After weeks and months of speculation and waiting, Sony finally confirmed itsfirst big PS5 game eventfor next week, June 4th. The event is expected to give some information about the new console (but maybe not the PS5 price and release date), as well as show some new games running on the device.
Given the current situation, there is a lot of uncertainty about how studios are approaching their reveals, so this could be THE event for showcasing games or it could be more Sony-focused. Whatever the case may be, there are a few games that many fans expect to be there, and some that they hope will be there. Here are some of the likeliest candidates and a few that would be huge surprises.

10Call of Duty 2020
The rumors thus far (and they are oftentimes pretty accurate when it comes toCOD) are that the next game will be a reboot of theBlack Ops sub series set during the Cold War. And usually at this point, Activision has already confirmed what the nextCall of Dutyis titled and shown off some gameplay. Given the situation, though, it’s possible that the publisher had to rearrange plans and now the PS5 event is the next best option for aCall of Duty 2020reveal. PlayStation is the new partner for the franchise so it makes sense to see the game get announced next week.
9Horizon Zero Dawn 2
Most PlayStation fans expect that Sony will have at least one console exclusive available for PS5 on day one. While there are many candidates to fill that role,Horizon Zero Dawn 2ranks pretty high on the list. Prior leaks from voice actors and even teases from within developer Guerrilla Games have suggested thatHorizon Zero Dawn 2is in the works, and the teases have not stopped since. Considering that Guerrilla helped usher in the age of the PS4 withKillzone: Shadow Fallit only makes sense for them to perform a similar task with the PS5.
8Outriders
Developer People Can Fly has just begun the promotional tour for itslooter shooterOutriders, so it’s conceivable that next week’s PS5 event may be a stop along the way. Game Rant was lucky enough to go hands-on with the game but there still seems to be a lot more to cover. Not to mention a lot of the footage thus far has been from the PC build. Could this be the opportunity to show the game running on a next-gen console?
7Silent Hill Reboot
While the rumors of aSilent HillIP acquisition seem truly dead, there is still lift in the claims that anewSilent Hillrebootis in the works. Key figures on theSilent Hillproperty have been active around Konami and one of the game’s designers even retweeted the PS5 event. It’s obviously not much to go on, but ifSilent Hillcan jump toDead by Daylightit shows that Konami still wants to keep the property alive. Whether that means a new game is in the works is up for debate.
6Bluepoint Remake
Bluepoint has been teasing a projectfor quite some time and this PS5 event feels like the perfect time to finally lift that shroud of secrecy. In fact, members of the Bluepoint team have even teased that the studio will be a part of Sony’s presentation. The only question is what game Bluepoint is working on – or specifically which game the studio is remaking.Demon’s Soulsis the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to rumors, but there have also been a variety of other titles mentioned as well.
Games likeLegend of Dragoon,Jak and Daxter, andLegacy of Kainhave all also come up when discussing what Bluepoint could be working on, but everything has been rumored. At the very least, next week fans should hopefully find out what exactly the studio has cooking.

5God of War 2
While no one would expect that Sony Santa Monica is deep enough intoGod of War 2(God of War 5) development to be ready for release, the studio could tease the project at the event. Even just a short clip teasingKratos and Thor’s showdownwould be enough to generate hype, but Cory Barlog and Co. could take a different approach and show how the game’s engine looks even better on the PlayStation 5.
4Elden Ring
It has been nearly a full year sinceFrom Software revealedElden Ringand since then the studio has remained relatively quiet on the game. The collaboration withGame of Thronesauthor George RR Martin has a lot of excitement behind it both from fantasy fans and Souls diehards. Bandai Namco has not hinted thatElden Ringwill appear during the event but it still seems like a possibility. If the game is to release soon (i.e. before next E3), then it could appear at either a Sony or Microsoft event.
3Godfall
As thefirst announced PS5 console exclusive,Godfallseems like a safe bet for the Sony event. Developer Counterplay Games has only shown brief snippets of the game, but if it is to be a PS5 launch title larger gameplay demonstrations are likely on the way. Described as a combination between Dark Souls and a looter, Godfall has a lot more that it can show to players, and hopefully, they see more of the game soon.
2Spider-Man 2
Given the success ofMarvel’s Spider-Manon PS4 a sequel is a given. Fans have even begun to speculate whichvillains and comic book storylinesthe next game might follow, and developer Insomniac has even shared some ideas it would like to explore. Like withGod of War, it seems more likely that Sony would teaseSpider-Man 2as in development with a look at a villain or a brief scene. Most likely the game is still a ways off, but there will be at least one PS5 Spidey outing for sure.
1Final Fantasy 16
This is easily the biggest stretch for the PS5 event, but rumors are beginning to brew that aFinal Fantasy 16announcement is coming. While one Square Enix team just launchedFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, Square’s other JRPG teams (like members of theFinal Fantasy 15team) haven not given a strong indication of what they are working on. And ifRemakeis going to take a long time to complete, the hope is that the mainlineFinal Fantasyseries continues alongside it.
The only question is whether this type of announcement would be saved for a Square event or not. But ifMarvel’s Avengersis flying solo for its gameplay reveal, there may not be the usual Square Enix press conference planned.

The Sony PS5 reveal event starts on August 08, 2025 at 1pm PT and is said to last about an hour. At least a few of these games should be there, while others could go either way. Still, as the kickoff to the summer reveal season there will certainly be a lot of eyes watching regardless of what’s shown.
