Super Mario Galaxyis one of the greatest 3DMariogames ever made. However, it also messes upMario’s lore even further by giving him the ability to breathe in space — and no explanations whatsoever for this talent.
In this game and its sequel, Mario can breathe in space without issue. This goes against Mario’s appearance inSuper Mario Land 2, where he needs a proper space suit to roam planets other than Earth. Just when did he become so powerful?

While this character is charming in his own way, his backstory is left woefully incomplete. For starters, no one knows who Bowser Jr.’s mom is. Such a revelation could potentially shake up the entire landscape of theMarioseries if it was ever revealed.
4He Keeps Getting Debuffed In Every Game
Mario is one of the most versatile characters in gaming history. He gains a ton of powers over the course of his games, which end up making him an extremely powerful plumber.
However, Mario never manages to take what he’s learned in old games and apply them in newer ones. While this is likely done to make the gameplay of eachMariotitle feel fresh, it does come at the cost of narrative inconsistencies when Mario is so weak at the start of each game.

That being said, it’s never explained as to why these coins are lying around all over the game, or why Mario even bothers stealing them in the first place. Surely there are better things to do than being a compulsive coin hoarder? Looks like fans will never know what Mario needs them for.
