For particularly the latter reason, many anime fans eagerly await the month of April as many new anime shows make their debut. The month is also the birth month for many famous anime characters, notable for their ability to capture the hearts of fans through their actions and a general aesthetically alluring trait, making them more likeable than their counterparts. Therefore, some of the most iconic anime characters born in April are below.

Slam Dunk
Born on the 1st of April, Sakuragi isthe protagonist of the infamousSlam Dunkseries. Initially known for his awful basketball abilities and self-confidence bordering on arrogance, Sakuragi was only concerned with asking out pretty girls and getting rejected. However, he meets Akagi Haruko, who he falls in love with, and in trying to win her heart, he joins the Shohoku basketball team.
Motivated by his love for Haruko and his rivalry with Rukawa, Sakuragi joins the basketball team as a complete beginner and advances his skills and status on the team through sheer tenacity and determination, ultimately resulting in him coming to love the sport without realizing it. Aside from his violent personality, Sakuragi’s most conspicuous trait is his bright red hair.

One of the first Arrancars to be introduced intheBleachseries, Nel Tu, was born on the 25th of April. Initially introduced in a child-like form, Nel Tu quickly establishes a positive relationship with Ichigo, the series' protagonist. Despite her child-like appearance, Nel Tu has a somewhat out-of-place vocabulary, which should not be associated with children; however, she can take a more mature form as a full-grown woman, Nelliel, rather than Nel Tu.
Nelliel is a formidable opponent in her grown form, as the large tattoo number on her back indicates she is the former 3rd Espada. Outside of combat, Nel Tu is shown to be somewhat of a pacifist; however, she’s also a self-proclaimed masochist.

13Akane Tsunemori - Psycho Pass

Tsunemori Akane is the protagonist of one ofanime’s leading sci-fi series,Psycho-Pass. Born on the 1st of April and a member of the police force, Tsunemori initially appears shy, naive and idealistic during her recruitment at the start of the series. Akane, in time, shows herself to be an intelligent, calm and level-headed inspector.
As she progresses with her unit— Unit 01, Akane steadily becomes a full-fledged detective, leading her to choose a more detached approach to apprehending criminals in sharp contrast to her ideals when she first started as an instructor.

The tallest member of the Straw Hats Pirates Crew, Brook stands at 277cm (9'1) and is the crew’s musician, but more than that, Brook is made entirely of bones. Known as the Gentleman Skeleton, Brook was born on the 3rd of April and thinks himself somewhat of a gentleman despite his extremely perverted nature.
Showcasing a contrast to the ideal personality he believes in his mind, Brook is instead an eccentric figure who is not nearly ‘gentlemanly’ as shown through his flippant antics. Despite his perversion, Brook maintains a very polite and formal demeanour to most people and is compassionate.

The Demon of Okinawa, Shiba Tatsuya, is the protagonist ofThe Irregular At Magic High School series. Born on the 24th of April, Tatusya is a first-year student in Course 1 of the First Magic High School and a combat prodigy, albeit unknown to his peers. Tatsuya shares a very close relationship with his sister, Shiba Miyuki, and they both enroll in the same school even after their mother’s death.
While a combat prodigy, Tatsuya is also a genius-level engineer in magic engineering and CAD development, a central theme in the series. As mentioned earlier, those are the only things Tatsuya shows genuine enthusiasm for. Despite being very stoic and cold, Tatsuya is veryprotective of his friends and sister.

Giorno Giovanna, born on April 16th, 1985, is the illegitimate child of Dio Brando in Jonathan Joestar’s body andthe main character in Part 5ofJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. He is known for his unwavering determination, allowing him to make crucial decisions and follow through despite obstacles.
He is not afraid to put himself in harm’s way during battles for an advantage. Giorno’s ultimate goal is to become a “Gang-Star.” He joins the Gang after completing Polpo’s trial and defeating Bruno Bucciarati. He is then tasked with protecting Trish Una for a week and later joins forces with Bruno to betray the Gang and murder the Boss of Passione.

Gabi Braun, a key character inAttack on Titan, is known for her passionate and strong-willed personality. Born on April 14th, Gabi is a young Eldian soldier from Marley who harbors a deep hatred for the people of Paradis Island. Despite her youth, Gabi has already earned recognition in the Marleyan military and is next in line to inherit the Armored Titan power.
Although Gabi’s drive is a notable strength, it is also her major weakness. Her dedication to Eldia leads her to violent and impulsive actions fueled by her vengeful and hateful side. Nevertheless,Gabi’s bravery is remarkable, putting her life at stake for what she believes to be a greater cause.

Ai Hayasaka is a significant character inKaguya-sama: Love is Warand a third-year student at Shuchi’in Academy, serving as Kaguya Shinomiya’s maid. She has the ability to quicklyswitch between four personas, each with its distinct backstory.
She was born on April 2nd into servitude in the Shinomiya household and grew up in a world that was isolated but less sheltered than Kaguya’s. Despite their master/servant relationship, Ai and Kaguya share a strong sisterly bond. Ai loves Kaguya greatly and is willing to defy the Shinomiya family to a certain extent to help her.

Usopp is a character inOne Piecewho serves as the Straw Hat Pirates sniper and a Senior Officer of the Grand Fleet.He was born on April 1stand raised in Syrup Village, serving as “captain” of the Usopp Pirates. He later joined the crew at the end of the Syrup Village Arc after helping to defeat the Black Cat Pirates.
Despite being cowardly, Usopp aspires to be a brave sea warrior like his father. Although he struggled in the past to match the physical capabilities of stronger characters, he has improved after two years of training. Following the time skip, both his mental and physical strength is enhanced, allowing him to face opponents without relying solely on his weapons.

Inosuke Hashibira, born on April 22nd, is a major character inDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. As a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, he joins Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado on their travels and missions. Inosuke was raised by a pack of boars in the mountains after being orphaned, which explains his poor grasp of human relationships.
Inosuke is known for his aggressive and prideful nature, which can cause him to exaggerate his strength and reject defeat. However, as the story progresses, he becomes more impacted by Tanjiro, learning to appreciate the ability of others, becoming more affectionate, and using smarter tactics in battle.
