While most of the characters added to the game are viable if played correctly, some are undeniably more popular than others. For example, one Legend that has not seen a lot of attention recently is thefreedom fighter from Salvo, Mad Maggie.
First introduced to many fans in theStories from the Outlands"Good as Gold" episode, Mad Maggie later made her official debut on the playable roster in Season 12. While she initially enjoyed a high pick rate like many other new Legends, her popularity has fallen in recent months. In fact, she is now among the least picked characters in the game alongsideSeason 3 Legend Crypto. With that in mind, one gamer came up with a concept they believed could revolutionize Mad Maggie in the battle royale and possibly boost her popularity.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as wing6781 shared an idea for how tobuff Mad Maggie inApex Legends. Specifically, this buff concept from the Reddit user focused on the character’s Ultimate, Wrecking Ball. According to the gamer, they proposed that the rolling ball of destruction should deal more damage and have an increase in stun duration if it impacts opponents further away. Furthermore, they suggested that the Wrecking Ball should bounce more the longer it continues to roll.
In an attached image, three different damage and stun duration tiers were shown for theWrecking Ball. Close range hits with the ball dealt 20 DMG in addition to a one-second-stun. Striking opponents at midrange inflicted 30 DMG and caused a two-second stun. And finally, managing to impact players at long distances incurred 40 DMG along with a 3-second stun duration. Furthermore, wing6781 suggested that using the speed boost pads from the Ultimate should increase the reload speed of shotguns.
Since posting this intriguing Mad Maggie buff on Reddit, numerous members of theApex Legendscommunity have weighed in on the concept. In only a couple of days, many gamers have upvoted the post and seem to be in favor of giving the native of Salvo an upgrade. Among the comments, some praised the additional damage over time. “Yea, it makes sense. The longer it rolls, the more kinetic energy it accumulates,” We7even said on Reddit. In addition, it is worth noting that some players believed that Respawn Entertainment needed to fix her Riot Drill, claiming that a lot of times the ability simply did not work.
Time will tell what happens to Mad Maggie moving forward. While it is reasonable to want this under-picked Legend to receive a buff, some characters will inevitably be less popular than others, given the impressive roster size of the battle royale. Nevertheless, Respawn Entertainment often buffs/nerfs characters, so this type of rework is not outside the realm of possibilities.
