The House of Wisdom was world-famous for being a center of philosophy and scienceduring the height of the Abbasid Caliphate. That’s whyAssassin’s Creed Mirage, which takes place in the early years of the Abbasids, heavily features this historical monument.
Aside from the story elements, players ofAssassin’s Creed Mirageshould visit the House of Wisdom to find a book collector who wants more books and a gear chest that holds a useful new weapon. Players don’t need to complete any amount of the story to access this gear chest, but finding the way to reach it isn’t easy.

How to Reach the Locked Door
The first thing players should know is that guards are constantly patrolling the upper floors of the House of Wisdom. While the ground level is free for anyone to enter and wander through, most of the upper areas are restricted, andany guards who spot Basim will attack on sight.
The House of Wisdom gear chest is near the top of a tower on the southeast side of the building. Players should climb the outside wall to skip as much of the House as possible, but the only way in is at the tower’s base. The door that leads further up has a sturdy lock, but players can get a hint of the key’s location from a notice on the opposite wall.
How to Get the Astronomical Library Key
According to the note, the locked door leads to the Astronomical Library, and the person who most likely has it is an astronomy student. Players won’t see the key symbol using Eagle Vision while inside the tower, but the key’s holder is still within the House of Wisdom.
In fact, the key’s holder is on the rooftop of the House. While the roof walkways are swarming with guards, one civilian stands beside an astronomical instrument. To find him, look at the locked door, turn right, exit the tower, climb up a level, and then walk to the other end of the roof to find the astronomer’s platform. At this point,players only need to pickpocket himto get the key.

How to Break the Barrier
Once players get the key, they can open the door and use the ladder to reach the next floor. Unfortunately, the chest is on the floor above this one, and a rough stone barrier blocks the way up. To deal with this, players will need to leave the tower and climb up the exterior. The fastest way to do this is to use the pulley by the north exit.
Players should eventually reach a ledge, and on the northwest side of the tower is a window with a simple wooden lattice. The window is too high to aim anything down towards the chest, but there’s a chandelier on the other side that players can break.
Like in olderAssassin’s Creedgames, the chandelier has a winch that will break once Basim throws a dagger. It can be hard to spot in the dark room, but it lights up in Eagle Vision, and the crosshair turns red when players are aiming at the right spot. When the chandelier drops, it’ll destroy the stone barrier and let players reach the chest inside.
The House of Wisdom gear chest contains the Abbasid Knight Sword. This weapon deals the same damage as Basim’s starting weapon and has the special ability On the Edge: while Basim’s health is below half, he deals 30 percent more light damage.
