Developer Larian Studios has officially re-launched its first full patch forBaldur’s Gate 3, after the first release of the patch ended up reportedly breaking many players’Baldur’s Gate 3saved games. This isn’t the first round of fixes that Larian has released for the game, but it is the first larger, “official” patch that the game has gotten.
It’s been a little more than a week sinceBaldur’s Gate 3launched into early access, and Larian already released a series of smaller hotfixes in the days following, before putting together this patch. As the gameisin early access, bugs are to be expected, as is a lack of final polish, though wiping saves apparently wasn’t part of the plan. Nonetheless, the new and improved patch has launched with no unexpected save-breaking bugs.

According to the post Larian published alongside the patchrelease,Baldur’s Gate 3’sfirst patch includes a number of bug fixes, improved stability for the game, and a new layer of polish to several in-game cutscenes. For example, the scenes where the player meets both Astarion and Shadowheart have been fixed up and polished, along with the scene where Volo recites his epic poem to the campsite - and Larian added in its post that this will be ongoing for all cutscenes throughout early access.
Dialogue choices with certain NPCs have been altered, along with tweaks to various bits of text here and there throughout the game. Finally,BG3’s combattutorial messages have been extended to better explain the basics.
Of course, the patch also comes with a long list of specific bug fixes; the highlights include fixing issueswith tieflings’tail animations, along with hair, skinning and textures on several models. Plus, a bunch of crash scenarios have been fixed, such as one crash related to having the level up screen open while in a dialog, and another related to dropping items from the inventory. All in all, it’s a decent-sized first patch forBG3, and Larian seems focused, for the moment, on fixes and improvements rather than adding content.

It’s not clear when Larian will begin adding to theavailable content inBaldur’s Gate 3, or when the next patch will be made available. But considering the developer’s quick compilation of this first patch and its responsiveness in crafting hotfixes just about every day following the game’s launch, it’s safe to assume Larian’s next follow-up will release in short order.
Baldur’s Gate 3is available for PC, iOS, and Stadia.
