Baldur’s Gate 3is a game that isabsolutely brimming with side content to complete, and despite being the final act of the game, Act 3 is no exception. One such quest that players will come across is to assist in locating some letters that have gone missing from the Sword Coast Courier business that operates out of Rivington.
The player can become knowledgeable about the situation either by speaking to some NPCs outside who mention their own letters that have gone missing, or by talking to the person working at the Sword Coast Courier office who will confirm that they cannot “guarantee delivery” due to recent frequent attacks on their courier pigeons. The player is told to bring the letters back immediately when found, and specifically not to read them. Here’s how to complete this quest.

How to Find the Pigeon
This quest is initially particularly vague and doesn’t immediately give the player any useful hints as to where the missing letters could potentially be located. That being said, it does sort of direct players not to leave the Sword Coast Courier, as the quest circle only encompasses the building itself. It is entirely possible to misunderstand what this circle means and completely ignore it. The next intended step, however, is forBaldur’s Gate 3players to head through the door next to the Sword Coast Courier employee, and head up the stairs.
Once upstairs, the player will see multiple pigeons and should speak to the closest one who is sitting on a barrel (via a “Speak with Animals” scroll or acharacter who has this ability already equipped). This pigeon has a lot to say, but will most importantly mention that their enemy has “flanked us on the west side, not one rooftop away.”

How To Reach The Open Hand Temple Roof
Equipped with the newfound knowledge provided by the pigeon, players should check out the rooftop to the west - the Open Hand Temple. to access the roof the proper way, the player should head inside and follow the path to the right which leads directly to the kitchen. From the kitchen, the player should exit the door to the right in front of them that leads outside. Following the trend, the player should immediately take another right and head down the stairs. From the bottom of the steps, the player will find a climbable vine directly to their right, and climbing it will lead all the way to the roof of the temple. Alternatively, all of these stepscould be avoided by simply casting “fly"or “misty step” abilities to immediately reach the top of the temple.
Once on the roof, the player should head towards the middle of the building where they will spot what appears to be a bird’s nest housing a furry little friend, Tara the Tressym (a winged cat-like creature). IfGale currently happens to be in the party,he will immediately recognize the Tressym and have unique dialogue options with the creature. Either way, the player should talk to Tara and make whichever dialogue choices they please, gaining the letters and progressing the quest to the next step.

Now that the player has the letter, it is time to return to the Sword Coast Courier in order to turn in the quest. Prior to rushing immediately there though, there is one pressing issue: should players read the letters? While this decision is entirely up to players andwhat makes sense for their character, be aware that opening it willpresent blackmail/intimidation options for an increased monetary reward. Regardless of what the player decides to do, simply head back to the Sword Coast Courier afterward and report back to Danzo at the desk.
