Nintendo releases a new image showing off the main characters that players will get to know inBayonetta 3. Releasing on October 28,Bayonetta 3takes the titular Umbra Witch to an island known as Thule, as well as some other real-world locations. The stakes ofBayonetta 3’sstoryseem to have been increased in comparison to past games, as now Bayonetta has to fight to protect both her own universe and the multiverse.
Returning to the fast-paced combat theBayonettaseries is well known for and including a story that takes the Umbra Witch to new and exciting places, it is clear to see whyBayonetta 3is one of the more highly anticipated Switch games releasing in 2022. However, even with all thehype aroundBayonetta 3, there are a lot of things that the game will need in order to live up to those expectations. Including having great combat and a story to match, a lot of fans want to see how the new character Viola works inBayonetta 3.

Introducing a new character to any established franchise can be tough, but it seems Nintendo is making an effort to inform fans who Viola is in a new image posted on the company’s website. The image introduces the main three witches ofBayonetta 3, including the iconic protagonist Bayonetta, her best friend and rival Jeanne, and Viola, alongside the demon Cheshire. Cheshire, a large, multicolored cat-like demon, is summoned by Viola but isn’t exactly controlled by her, as far as his character description reads.
The character descriptions for the witches inBayonetta 3don’t give too many details away, though they do work as solid introductions for those who maybe aren’t as familiar with the series. There are references to how Bayonetta’s hair works as her primary weapon and how Viola is still a witch in training. For anyone entirelynew to theBayonettagames, PlatinumGames has recommended playing through the first two titles before diving intoBayonetta 3, as this will prevent as much confusion as possible.
Not all of the characters appearing inBayonetta 3have been shown off in the image released by Nintendo. Luka, for example, who has appeared in all three games, did not get a mention in the newly released image. There was also no nod to thedifferent Bayonettas players will likely meet inBayonetta 3or any nod to Cereza, despite some believing that the new title could be her time to return.
Bayonetta 3will release on July 17, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch.
