Updated June 11, 2025, by Mehrdad Khayyat:Capcom has been on the right track for quite some time now. It’s safe to say that since releasing Resident Evil 7, the company has been resurrected, bringing massive hits one after another and brilliantly remaking the Resident Evil franchise.

The history of Capcom, however, is not limited to Resident Evil. There are so many great games and franchises created by Capcom earlier, that even if the company dedicates the rest of its life to remaking them all, gamers would barely complain!

It’s ok if the nameBreath of Firedoesn’t ring a bell for some! It was a short-lived JRPG franchise by Capcom that only had a strong presence during the lifetime of the original PlayStation. Although the series received its final entry on PlayStation 2, the financial performance convinced Capcom to shelf it forever.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 - Brant NPC

Breath of Fire 4, however, was the peak in the entire franchise, as developers managed to expand the world, improve the combat system, and deliver more engaging content and story. As a full 3D experience,Breath of Fire 4featured turn-based combat, and it was considered a potential competitor to theFinal Fantasyseries back then. Featuring an isometric camera, the game was in a pretty good state visualistically.

Zack and Wikiwas developed and published by Capcom. It is a highly underrated Capcom gem for the Wii. It is essentially a point-and-click adventure game, but one with a little more action.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Players can use motion controls to guide or steer the treasure-hungry pirates away from danger. Actions are very simple but don’t let those cartoony visuals fool you, the puzzles are surprisingly hard. This is a masterfully crafted adventure game.

As one of the highly anticipated RPGs recently,Dragon’s Dogma 2was quite successful in delivering a modern open-world RPG experience that every gamer would love to play nowadays. With the new interesting pawn system and a ton oftwisted story quests,Dragon’s Dogma 2is a game with high replayability.

Power Stone 2 Characters

It delivers a rich world with a wide variety of character classes that leave players free to create their beloved builds. Ghost Trickwas developed and published by Capcom. It comes from thePhoenix Wrightteam. Essentially, players die and in order to figure out who done it, they must guide their soul through objects, trying to affect reality by shaking a light to cause some sort of domino effect as one example.

Dino Crisis Regina

Oh yeah, and there is time travel involved. The visuals and music are great for the DS, but the story is really where this game shines. There have been many morePhoenix Wrightgames since, but no sequel for poorGhost Trick.

Power Stone 2was developed by Capcom and published by them as well in North America and Japan. The first game was one of the first challengers toSuper Smash Bros. It isn’t a platform fighter like that, but it is four-player centric with giant battlefields and weapons thrown into the fray.

Monster_Hunter_Rise_Sunbreak

This is all to say it is a party brawler and bothPower Stonetitles are fantastic fighting games. The sequel, in particular, is one of the finest that graced the Dreamcast. Sadly the sequels stopped here, but hopefully, Capcom one day will realize their error.

As a new effort from the team behindResident Evil,Dino Crisisused a similar formula to deliver another survival horror adventure where dinosaurs take over the scene rather than the mutated humans.

Despite using the same fixed camera angle andResident Evil-style gunfights,Dino Crisisintroduced some new mechanics of its own, and the story was also quite unique, which made it another big hit for Capcom.

mega man x collection villains plus x feature

Its subsequent release on PC has also been received warmly, and it seems that the sky’s the limit for this series right now. The classic combat of this series, coupled with increased options for traversal, makesMonster Hunter Risea brilliant game in its own right.

Probably the best way to describeResident Evil 7is to call it the result of a brave development team. This game took a direction that was never expected by any fan, but it was also what theResident Evilseries needed to bounce back from some of the previous disastrous launches.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Resident Evil 7was not only a simple change in the camera view. It was much-needed new blood in the series. It doubled-up the horror elements and combined them with an advanced gunplay system to make the overall experience much more intense than before.

Many consider theMega Man Xseries one of the franchise’s best entries. Given how Capcom has neglected the series, it seems that thisLegacy Collectionis the best thing fans will experience around the Mega Man series for quite some time.

The sheer amount of content present in theMega Man X Legacy Collectionmakes it clear why the game is rated so highly. This, coupled with a bunch of new features, makes it a pretty amazing title indeed.

Marvel vs Capcom 2was developed by Capcom and published by them as well in North America and Japan. A better-reviewed fighting game on Dreamcast isMarvel vs Capcom 2. Even though reviews may differ as to what Capcom’s best fighting game was and is, our pick has to go to this.

Whether one plays it here, at the arcade, or using one of the HD versions like on PS3, this is fighting heaven. Plus the roster is insanely good for both Capcom and Marvel characters. The gameplay is solid on top of the sprites looking beautiful.
