Summary

Crosshair is easily one of the most notorious clone characters in recent memory inStar Wars. Despite his questionable actions and cold demeanor, Crosshair is quite possibly one of the most popular clone troopers, alongside the likes of Cody, Wolffe, Rex, Hunter, Tech, and many more.

The toothpick-loving sharpshooter of Clone Force 99 has a sarcastic attitude and can at times appear to be quite mysterious, thus leading to an array of incredible and shocking quotes. However, Crosshair also has a protective and caring side to him, albeit a quiet one. This side can often lead to emotional and impactful lines and shows that he’s capable of compassion for those he cares for.

11“He Actually Cried.”

Crosshair may seem cold and emotionless, but it’s quotes like these that show he is capable of being more than a cold soldier and that he also has a subtle, humorous side. He likes to tease his brothers from time to time, especially Wrecker, who likes to tease him back.

In Season 1 ofThe Bad Batch, there’s some playful banter between the two brothers after they stock up on weapon supplies. The two brothers mention that they had visited the new armory on Kamino, in which Crosshair will say this quote, with Wrecker saying it back to him and implying that Crosshair also shed a tear when seeing the new armory.

10“They Don’t Leave Their Own Behind… Most Of The Time.”

Although Crosshair chose to side with the Empire, he still holds resentment and a hint of remorse at Clone Force 99 for abandoning him while he wasunder the influence of the inhibitor chip.

Hunter tries to tell him that they had no choice but to leave him as he was trying to kill them, to which Crosshair responds with the gut-wrenching line “Hmm, and I did.” This shows that Crosshair never wanted to harm his brothers and that being abandoned by them weighed heavily on him.

9“You Want to Know Why They Put Me In Charge? It’s Because I’m Willing To Do What Needs To Be Done.”

Out of everything Crosshair has done while serving the Empire, they all pale in comparison to one truly sinister act he committed in service to them while under the influence of the inhibitor chip.

This moment is quite possibly one of the darkest inThe Bad Batch, as Crosshair kills one of his new squad members for defiance and then proceeds to order the rest of his men to execute a group of innocent civilians. It shows that Crosshair isn’t exactly in control of his actions and that shows the power and true evilness of the Empire.

8“Don’t Make The Same Mistake Twice, Don’t Become My Enemy.”

At the end of Season 1, there’s nothing that Hunter wants more than for Crosshair to rejoin Clone Force 99, but unfortunately, Crosshair has other plans. It’s truly heartbreaking that Crosshair feels that his brothers need tojoin the Empireto be his family again and that if they don’t join him, then they’re his enemies.

It shows how blinded Crosshair has become to the atrocities of the Empire, and that he truly believes that the Empire will treat him differently to regular clones, which makes this quote even more gut-wrenching.

7“We’re Not Like The Regs. We Never Have Been. We’re Superior.”

Crosshair has never liked Regs (also known as regular clones), such as Captain Rex and Commander Cody. Throughoutthe Bad Batch storyline inThe Clone Warsand Season 1 ofThe Bad Batch, he has always voiced his displeasure when working with other clones and has always seen himself and his brothers as superior to them.

The quote “Oh, I don’t blame you. I would have left him for dead too. Besides… he’s just another reg.” deserves an honorable mention due to Crosshair contradicting it by trying to save a clone in Season 2 ofThe Bad Batch.

crosshair executing order 66

What makes this a memorable quote is that Crosshair is always saying things like this, but deep down he does care about the Regs, he will just never admit it. This quote also has a sad undertone when, in Season 2, it turns out that the Empire sees Crosshair in the same light as the rest of the clones, and that to them, he’s no different.

6“Good Soldiers Follow Orders.”

This is a haunting quote that has been echoed andchanted by hundreds of clones after Order 66. Hearing these words has always frightened fans and is a worrying omen when said by a clone, as it shows they aren’t in control of their actions and are following the orders of the sinister Darth Sidious, and unfortunately, Crosshair wasn’t spared that fate, unlike the rest of Clone Force 99.

Unlike other clones, Crosshair tends to say this phrase even after his inhibitor chip is removed, except the quote changes to “soldiers follow orders,” which makes his story even more tragic. Especially since he feels that there is no other purpose for him in life than to follow the orders of whoever is in charge, whether that’s Hunter, the Republic, or even the Empire, and the Empire is all too ready to turn on him.

5“Plan 88. You Have To Hide. They’re After…”

Crosshair never got to finish this quote before he was captured by the Empire, but it shows that when it comes down to it, he will protect his brothers and Omega no matter what, even in the face of great pain and torture.

Crosshair has always acted indifferent to Omega and often seemed like he didn’t care for her at all, but it’s proven that he does care for her safety in this episode when he attempts to warn his brothers that the Empire is after Omega.

4“You Miss Me? How Touching.”

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 7, Episode 4 - Unfinished Business

Out of all the members of Clone Force 99, Crosshair is by far the most sarcastic of the bunch. Throughout his time with the batch, he can be seen making witty and sarcastic comments to his brothers, and during one mission with Captain Rex andAnakin Skywalker, he utters this quote.

The sharpshooter will follow this quote with one of his most iconic stunts and ends up destroying all the oncoming droids with only one shot from his rifle, which shocks and stuns his brother Wrecker. These moments from Crosshair where he teases his brothers show a friendlier side that contrasts his sinister personality inThe Bad Batch.

crosshair turns on the empire

3“You… You Could Have Saved Him.”

Crosshair is a man of loyalty, and up until he met the clone trooper Mayday, he had been loyal to the Empire. What’s surprising the most is how Crosshair came to care about Mayday, who is a regular clone. Crosshair has always voiced his displeasure about “regs,” so when Mayday managed to change his viewpoint on the Empire, it was quite a surprise.

This quote shows the moment that Crosshair finally decides to defect from the Empire because of their neglect of the clones. The Empire had the power to save Mayday, but they instead chose to let him die because he was a clone, and thus, in their eyes, replaceable. At this moment, Crosshair makes his decision and kills the Lieutenant who let Mayday die, solidifying his fate in Imperial captivityfor the remainder of Season 2.

crosshair reveals his inhibitor chip was removed

There is no quote of Crosshair’s as shocking as this one, and this quote gave birth to lots of fan theories about whether Crosshair really removed his inhibitor chip, or if the chip is so powerful that he only thinks he has had it removed because the Empire told him they removed it. Even Hunter and his siblings were shocked and didn’t want to believe him, because if it were true, then he was willinglyserving the Empire.

Afterwards, his brothers’ opinion of him soured and they all, apart from Wrecker and Omega, were no longer sympathetic to him. This could be the reason Crosshair felt he had to wait for the Empire to rescue him after the destruction of Kamino. He felt that his brothers no longer wanted him and the only people that truly wanted him was the Empire, which sadly, as seen in Season 2, wasn’t exactly true.
