Players have been prompted to stay at home and play video games in recent months, withthe World Health Organization encouraging isolated gaming. While many would not have predicted that a global pandemic would see an increase in the sales of video games, the last couple of months have seen this happen. The rush to buy games seems to have slowed compared to April, yet May still saw players buying a significant amount of games.
Interestingly this May saw the highest game sales year on year since 2008 and the total amount purchased on gaming products was $922 million. With many players looking forward tothe next generation gamesit is impressive that the current generation is still achieving these kinds of numbers. In terms of which games sold best, the leader is a title that many players would expect, but there are some surprises in the top 20 selling games in the US.

The list sees the alreadyrecord-breakingCall of Duty: Modern Warfareon top of the sales charts once again. The series has managed to consistently perform over the last decade, but this latest iteration has seemed to strike a chord with the fan base and as a result, it has been hugely popular. In the top 20 sold games there are undoubtedly some giant games that have not only had critical acclaim but have had longevity with players. The game was originally released in 2013 and while it achieved a great deal of success in the following years, it is impressive that the title still has players coming back and purchasing it.
