Black Panther: Wakanda Foreveris set to bring in many new power players, including Dominique Thorne’s Ironheartand Huerta’s Namor, who will be changing the MCU as a whole in the upcoming projects they’re a part of. Both characters are arguably top-tier in terms of power levels, as both possess the ability to rival some of Marvel’s heavy hitters, including the Hulk. During an interview withMarvel, Coogler went on to discuss the extent of Namor’s abilities. “[There’s] no equal in terms of his capabilities, being able to breathe underwater and breathe at high altitudes and walk around on land. He’s incredibly strong, he’s as strong as Thor, and if he’s around enough water he can be as strong as the Hulk," Coogler said.
Namor is a force to be reckoned with. He has had a conflicted history when it comes to his moral alignment asNamor is not a hero or a villain. The character fights for his people and his people only which can end up going against certain parties. “Here is a man who believes 100% that he is the hero in his own story,” Producer Nate Moore adds. “He doesn’t see himself as a villain because in Namor’s eyes what he is doing he’s doing to protect a people who have already made it through a tragic history.”
The approach the director took is very fair, as it’ll be up to fans to see how they view the character. Namor is fighting for what’s right for his people, so it’s clear he’s not a ruthless villain like the Joker. Namor will stand against anyone who gets in his way as long as he gets his people to where he needs to go. It’s unclear whereBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverwill take Namor and if it’ll usher in the X-Men sinceHuerta confirmed that Namor is a mutant. Marvel Studios' saving the reveal of the famous group for a later date, and when it happens, fans will be more than receptive.
