Such is the case withthe Mythic Skins ofOverwatch 2, which introduced a new progression goal for players to unlock and wild new variants for the characters who got them.
Blizzard Temporarily Shuts Down Mythic Skins and Mythic Shop to Investigate Bug
Now, an unusual bug is affecting online play inOverwatch 2, and Blizzard has voluntarily shut down access to Mythic Skins as it investigates. According to a developer post on theOverwatch 2forums, the company is investigating an issue related to the game’s latest patch that is causing crashes and disconnections when Mythic skins are used in online matches. While it investigates, players cannot equip any Mythic Skin or purchase new Mythic Skins from the Mythic Shop, the in-game storefront where players can acquire Mythic Skins. Players can still equip any Rare, Epic, or Legendary skin they own or acquire, includingones from the recentOverwatch 2Porsche crossover event.
Though the bug has temporarily disabled the use of Mythic skins in online play, players can still move towards earning the ones they want while Blizzard works on the problem. Mythic Prism awards are not affected by the bug, so players can still collect them in the Premium Battle Pass. The recentOverwatch 2Season 10 updateoverhauled the way Mythic Skins are earned, by awarding players advancing the Battle Pass with a new type of currency, Mythic Prisms, which can then be exchanged for Mythic Skins from the in-game store. Additionally, any players affected by the bug will not be affected by Leaver Penalties, since their disconnection or crash occurred due to an issue outside their control rather than “rage-quitting.”
SinceOverwatch 2’s launch, Mythic Skins have been used by players as a major goal, as it is possible to acquire the skins without any additional purchases by progressing through the game’s Premium Battle Pass.
