The main characters, or “operatives,” are given their own character overviews while an attached picture provides a file on them, with some redacted portions. The returning characters include protagonist Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and their former handler Jason Hudson fromthe originalBlack Opsgame. The new characters include the protective Eleazar “Lazar” Azoulay, Helen Park, and Lawrence Sims. Most notably, the tweets feature the mysterious Russell Adler, who will be heading the operations in the game’s campaign.
Each of the characters has their own backstory in files detailing their lives before being recruited to the CIA’s efforts againstBlack Ops Cold War’senigmatic antagonist Perseus. The returning trio of Mason, Woods, and Hudson have their own history, and will be largely boots on the ground. Lazar used to be a part of Israel Intelligence, Helen works on behalf of MI6 and the Crown, while Lawrence is a tech specialist and the closest to Russell Adler.
That leaves the shade-wearing spy, Russell Adler, who will be leading the team. He is a veteran CIA agent whose past is shrouded in secrecy, though fans know he has experience handling clandestine operations. Adler has proven to be a reliable operative and will be leading the hunt for Perseus. He is heavily promoted in most ofBlack Ops Cold War’scampaign trailersand the cinematic cutscenes that have been released leading to the game’s launch, all of which is building Adler up to be very significant toBlack Ops Cold War’sstory.
The only character players don’t know much about is the main villain Perseus, though more will be revealed in the game. Players will be able to meet the characters, old and new, inBlack Ops Cold War’smain story campaignwhen the game launches next Friday.
