TheCall of Duty: Vanguardopen beta is rapidly approaching, and a few advance copies have already gone out to content creators, meaning that new details are already coming to light. This includes the revelation thatCall of Duty: Vanguardis indeed bringing back the killstreak system, as was predicted by at least one reputable leaker.
Apparently, theCall of Duty: Vanguardbetawill offer players 10 different killstreaks to choose from, including Glide Bomb–a returning feature from Sledgehammer‘s previous World War 2 title–and Death Machine, which previously appeared inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Also appearing are a variety of new killstreak rewards which begin being unlocked at three kills and increase in difficulty until a maximum of 10 kills.

The list of killstreaks begins with Intel at three kills, which will use repeated pings on the minimap to reveal nearby enemies to the summoning player for a short period. Four kills will open up Care Package, which drops a care package that will reward players with a random killstreak on pickup; Spy Plane, which will call in a spy plane to reveal all enemy positions on the minimap; or Counter Spy Plane, which calls in a plane that obscures the minimap for enemies. Both planes can be shot down, however, so players may wish to save up for the five-kill rewards: Glide Bomb, Death Machine, and Mortar Barrage, each of which deals direct damage to the enemy likeCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Nuke killstreak.
Next on the list is the War Machine, unlocked at seven kills, which allows players to equip a semi-automatic grenade launcher with a fixed number of grenades that persists until it runs out of ammunition. After that comes the Flamenaut at nine kills, which summons a flameflower and protective suit with unlimited fuel, both of which are only lost on death. Last on the list are Attack Dogs, unlocked at ten kills, which unleashes a pack of dogs on nearby foes for a period of time. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to soothe concerns aboutCall of Duty: Vanguard’s longevity.
Also revealed recently are thebeta’s perks and weapons, each of which will have significant impacts on the game, as well as the returningClan system inCall of Duty: Vanguard’s multiplayer. While Activision continues to be mired in controversy and lawsuits, it appears that players will have a lot to look forward to whenCall of Duty: Vanguardis finally released.
