During an Internal Revenue (IR) shareholders meeting today, Capcom confirmed that there areno plans to portMonster Hunter Worldto Nintendo Switch, despite its popularity. However, while answering that question Capcom also confirmed that there are plans to make a newMonster Huntergame in the works, one that middle-to-high school-aged kids will be able to enjoy.
The exact scope of this potential newMonster Huntergame is vague, perhaps in part due to the question needing to be translated from Japanese. Given the proximity of the answers, it seems fair to assume that specifying a younger audience is Capcom’s way of implying that the game will be on Switch, especially given all other platforms haveMonster Hunter Worldwith consistent updates to play. However, mentioning a younger audience may also be a way to suggest the new title will be a spin-off rather than an official entry.

Nintendo’s hardware has seen both kinds of content in the past. The 3DS received a mainline title inMonster Hunter Generations(Monster Hunter Xin Japan) as well as a turn-based RPG spin-off inMonster Hunter Stories. In 2018, theNintendo Switch received the updatedMonster Hunter Generations Ultimate(Monster Hunter XXin Japan), but since then the franchise has been dormant on that console due to Capcom’s focus onMonster Hunter World.
Though Nintendo fans have missed out on the latest entry,Monster Hunter Worldhas received a lot of content updates since it first released. The fourth major title update for theIceborneExpansion was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but Capcom recently confirmed thatthe free update will launch on June 11, 2025, with more information about what that update will include coming on July 3.

Thelive-actionMonster Huntermovie, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich, is currently planned to release on September 4.
No matter what Capcom has in store for the future of theMonster Hunterfranchise, particularly in regards to this mysterious new title in the works, there’s no doubt that it will keep its presence as a high-grossing mainstay in the industry.
