After more than a year and a hefty patch, it looks as though the gaming community is ready to move past the disaster that was the launch ofCyberpunk 2077. On top of that,CD Projekt Red has recently announced a newThe Witchergame is in development. While there’s not much information about the next installment in the successful series, the studio has said that it will be switching from its in-house engine to Unreal 5. With the recent news, someCyberpunkfans may be concerned that the game may be getting abandoned, but the developer has reassured players.

In the recent tweet in which CDPR unveiled the continuation of theWitchersaga, it also made mention of some upcoming DLC forCyberpunk 2077. Although it’s only one sentence, it makes it very clear that the open-world sci-fi game will be getting some new content, and that there is some currently in development. Alongside that, the message also says that DLC is being made in the company’s own REDengine, which is what the base game was created in, so it won’t be abandoning it entirely just yet.

Much likeThe Witcher 4, there’s no further details about the elusive DLC. With a sprawling city that contains a ton of characters,Cyberpunk 2077has plenty of storylines that could be explored. It may even be possible for the developer to move outside Night City. At this stage, all fans can do is speculate as to what could be on CDPR’s mind.

The base game has certainly come a long way. ConsideringCyberpunk 2077is one of the most disastrous video game launches in recent history, the otherwise sparkling reputation of the studio took a serious nosedive as gamers felt cheated by a product that had obviously been pushed out the door before it was ready. Fortunately, since then, the team has been hard at work trying to undo the damage, and while some may feel that it’s too little too late, a laundry list of changes has made the game a lot more playable, especially on consoles.

While the recentCyberpunk 2077patch still caused major issues on the PS4 port, each update brings the game closer to what it should have been back in December 2020. It’s going to be hard for the studio to distance itself from the embarrassing release of the game, but many have been giving it a second chance, and no doubt fans will be excited to know that some DLC is on the horizon.

Cyberpunk 2077is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
