R. Talsorian Games, creator of theCyberpunk Redtabletop RPG, has announced that it is bringing a new starter box to the game tied toCyberpunk: Edgerunners. Thanks to consistent updates released by CD Projekt Red forCyberpunk 2077and the breakout success of Netflix’s anime adaptation of the game,Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, there has been a lot of renewed interest in the world of Night City in 2022. DespiteCyberpunk 2077enjoying a hugely increased player basein the last couple of months, there are other ways to dive into Night City and theCyberpunkworld.Namely, there’s theCyberpunktabletop game, whose setting was first conceived by creator Mike Pondsmith. TheCyberpunk 2020tabletop RPGkicked things off, giving players a look at a dystopian future. As time went on, new editions were released, with the latest beingCyberpunk Red. That game is set in 2045, which allowed CD Projekt Red to build a completely new story with the setting inCyberpunk 2077.RELATED:CD Projekt Red Responds to Fan Requests for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season TwoIt seems a new module will bring theCyberpunktabletop and video game closer together in terms of timelines, though, as a starter box has been announced that contains missions tied to theCyberpunk: Edgerunnersanime. This box will also include all the essential rules and lore for players looking to get into the tabletop game, as well as providing tabletop players with knowledge of how things have changed by 2077.
It hasn’t been made clear when this new module will be available, as there’s currently been no release date announced by R. Talsorian. It also hasn’t been confirmed whether there will be any appearances bycharacters fromCyberpunk: Edgerunnersin the module, but considering that the mission kit is being tied to the anime, it is likely there could be some cameos. Of course, R. Talsorian will have to be careful about which characters it includes and when, as a lot of the characters fromEdgerunnersend up in vastly different scenarios by the time the anime concludes.
This isn’t the first time thatCyberpunk: Edgerunnershas crossed over into another piece of media set in Night City. David Martinez’s jacket andRebecca’s shotgun made it intoCyberpunk 2077through theEdgerunnersupdate. Through modding as well, players can access a multitude ofCyberpunk: Edgerunnersitems and can even play as some of the characters from the anime. Still, for anyone looking to get started in theCyberpunk Redtabletop game, this new module might be a good point to dive in.
