Across the years ofDestiny2, there are some things that only veterans may remember.Destiny2has been through countless changes, including a sunset of content that New Light players might not know about. There’s countlessDestiny2nostalgia for the veteran Guardians still playing today.
10The Red War
With the release ofDestiny2, Guardians were provided with a thrilling campaign called the Red War. The Red War saw the mighty Cabal Red Legion siege the Last City, destroying the Tower, capturing the Traveler, and stealing the Light of all Guardians. The Red War was the ultimate challengeto humanity since the Collapse and saw the conqueror Dominus Ghaul as the antagonist.
The Red War has since been sunset inDestiny2, as the game focuses on other story content post-Red War. The thrilling campaign saw the Cabal in full force, with some shining characters coming to light such as the iconic Vanguard trio.

9Leviathan Raids
In the early days ofDestiny2, 6 players could embark toward The Leviathan, the flagship and exiled home of the famed Cabal Emperor Calus. This planet-sized ship saw the Guardians face many challenges, all at the subject of the mysterious and illusive Emperor Calus, who was not faced until years later inDestiny2Lightfall.
The Leviathan held two Raids and two Raid Lairs, which saw the Guardians returning to the ship on multiple occasions to battle against Cabal, trapped Vex, and aninfestation of Hive. Unfortunately, players have yet to return to the Leviathan since these threats have since been resolved.

8Stand With The Drifter Or The Vanguard
Season of the Drifter saw the arrival of the rogue lightbearer, the Drifter, andthe beautiful location of the Derelict. With his arrival came the PvPvE game mode Gambit, as well as a decision that is yet to have importance. Players could choose between siding with the Drifter or siding with the Vanguard. The former allows for the Drifter to trust the player, whereas the latter, keeps players loyal to the Vanguard.
The game promised that this decision would have consequences, but standing with either faction has not yet done anything of merit. The game states that “This choice may impact future content for this character” but even with the release of Lightfall, nothing has changed. This moment had potential forDestiny2, as for the first time each player had a unique decision to make, with unforeseen consequences.

7Faction Rally
Long before the Guardian Games saw therivalry between the three classesof Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters, there was the Faction Rally. This week-long community activity saw players pick a side from the three factions: Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, and New Monarchy. In fact, with the release of Shadowkeep, Lakshmi-2,and Executor Hideo were removed altogether.

Faction Rallies have been removed fromDestiny2since Season 3, and the team at Bungie has since released a better model for their faction events with Guardian Games. Faction Rallies were a somewhat fun experience in that Guardians gathered and compete in activities and events for faction-exclusive loot.
6Terrors Of Telesto
There are plenty of weapons inDestiny2that strike fear into the hearts of the enemies of the Last City. However, there exists an exotic weapon that strikes fear into Guardians themselves. This weapon is Telesto, an exotic Fusion Rifle that has brokenDestiny2well over 38 times.Telesto Reportis a website dedicated to keeping a record of these bugs and glitches, along with an ominous date tracking since the last bug.
Telesto is infamous in theDestiny2community, andDestiny 2FPSveterans will remember this weapon as far back as The Taken King for the countless bugs that it is responsible for. Telesto could have been used to break Crucible, as well as crash players' games. If one thing is certain, it’s how grateful the Telesto veteran survivors feel.

5Static Weapon Rolls
The launch ofDestiny2saw RNG become meaningless in favor of static weapon rolls. Each gun that players would loot would have the same perks and stats, meaning that players did not have to worry about grinding for the best god rolls inDestiny2. This was later changed, and now players are constantly farming for God Roll weapons.
Static roll weapons meant that players could reliably use any weapon they found, thanks to the fact that the traits and perks of each weapon would mean each player ran the same weaponsfor PvP and PvE. However, now, players have the god-rolls to grind for.

4Consumable Shaders
For years,Destiny2players found themselves stressed out by the shader system. If players wanted to use or alter the shaders on their armor, they would be required to use a consumable, and they would then lose the shader that they have used. Consumable shaders saw players have to grind for shaders in activities, as well as purchase multiple from Eververse.

Luckily, this was later changed, and now shaders are one-time collectibles in which multiple are not needed, nor can they be acquired. Once players have a shader, it is theirs forever. The idea of consumable shaders haunted players and theirDestiny2fashion for years.
3Primary Ammo
New players ofDestiny2might not know thatDestiny2veterans never had infinite primary ammo. Before season 15, players had to find ammo drops on the ground from kills, and if they lost all their ammo, then its time to bring out the Titan and start punching everything that moves. Primary ammo meant that players couldn’t just spray and pray, but it was a welcome change.
Everything kinetic has infinite ammo, so players will always have an alternative in a boss’ damage phase, or for ad-clear that doesn’t involve shooting Gjallarhorn at hordes of enemies. This welcome change might only be remembered by veteran players.

2The Almighty Crisis
When the Red Legion was defeated in the Red War, they left behind the Almighty. This Cabal superweapon had the capability of eating stars, destroying entire solar systems to leave the Cabal victorious no matter the cost. This ungodly weapon was the pride of the Red Legion, and thankfully, the Guardians were able to disarm it before it couldeat the power of the Sun.
Years after the Red War, the desperate and vengeful Cabal Red Legion set the Almighty on a collision course for the Last City. This first-ever Live Event inDestiny2saw the Almighty slowly head towards Earth, getting closer each day until Rasputin bombarded it with satellite superweapons. If the Almighty did collide with the Last City, the damage would have been catastrophic.

1Cayde-6
On a sad note, only veteranDestinyplayers will remember the legendary Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6. This charismatic Exo was vastly important toDestiny, and Guardians across the Sol-system and beyond loved the infuriating and rebellious Cayde-6. That was until he was murdered byQueen Mara Sov’s brother, Uldren Sov in the Forsaken DLC.
It’s a harsh reality to face the idea that most players are now more common with Uldren Sov as the redeemed Guardian Crow rather than the murderer of Cayde-6. Despite his death, Cayde-6 has lived in the hearts of Guardians for years, and even has a statue in the Tower where players can pay their respects.

Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
