The introduction of new content inDestiny 2in its latest seasons have unfortunately meant the vaulting of older content, including quests, locations, and gear. So, withThe Witch Queenlaunching soonthat means that some areas from as recent as 2021 are beginning to face the sunsetting that has slowly been rotating activities and collectables out of the game.
One of the higher profile vaultings coming in this latest update isDestiny 2’s H.E.L.M. location, which is home to a number of activities and quest lines that can lead to legendary gear. However, while items and locations are currently being shifted to make way forThe Witch Queen, Bungie has made the decision to move one of these activities to a new location to give players a final chance to complete certain quests.

With the H.E.L.M. going away, Bungie has moved the Override activity to the Last City, so that players can continue to access the gauntlet-style game mode without the original launching point. The activity will stay on the Last City until the end ofDestiny 2’s current Season of the Lost, leading up to the release of the largerWitch Queenexpansion later in the week. This means that even without the H.E.L.M. the six-person activity can still be challenged for the remainder of Season of the Lost and plundered for all of its rewards.
Unfortunately, this move doesn’t mean that Override will be returning whenThe Witch Queentweaks the next seasonofDestiny 2content for newly arriving activities and rewards. However, fans have known for some time that Override would be retiring at the end of Season of the Lost regardless of this last-minute move to the Last City. So, this will be the last time that players will be able to dive into the activity, both to overcome the challenge, but also to finish any quests they may have had that required completing the Override.
The topic ofvaulted content inDestiny 2continues to be a controversial one among fans who want to keep playing their favorite old activities and using their favorite weapons season after season. That being said, the scope of constantly adding content toDestiny 2continues to make managing the game difficult for both Bungie and players trying to free up space on PCs and consoles. Hopefully, Bungie will deliver with the new material coming inThe Witch Queenand futher expansions to keep that push and pull of expanding and vaulting balanced to create a compelling live experience for players.
