Summary
Destiny 2’s Season of the Witch came out at the end of August, but it still had to deliver a darker story ahead of The Final Shape while drawing from heavy Hive elements and making it all fit for this year’s Festival of the Lost. WhileSeason of the Witch’s storywas great, for some it fell flat in the way it was told - especially with the finale. Still, the season did a great job at setting the vibes for the remainder of the year up until The Dawning, and Festival of the Lost looks more solid than ever with new features and changes.
Although players have been asking for the long-gone Infinite Forest to come back as the main activity inDestiny 2’s Festival of the Lostseasonal event, there may be complications with that idea given that it took place on Mercury, which was vaulted with Beyond Light. However, this year’s version of the Festival of the Lost seems to pack a punch compared to what players are used to, introducing a new game mode, new weapons, an exclusive type of Engram, and even its own way to focus loot from Eva Levante in The Tower.

Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost 2023 Explained
The addition ofLegend Haunted Sectors inDestiny 2’s Festival of the Lostmeans that this year fans will most likely have to craft quite powerful builds while using the event’s signature Masks. In fact, Legend Haunted Sectors sound like regular Legend Lost Sectors, but with a Festival of the Lost spin, meaning that players will only get the exclusive loot from them by wearing one of the iconic Masks, and this will most likely include the new Eerie Engrams, which will be a core part of the experience. Legend Haunted Sector details are not confirmed, but it’s probable that players will face enemies at a given Power Level, possibly including Champions and Headless Ones as bosses.
Eerie Engrams are a new type of loot that will become available in Festival of the Lost in 2023, and the TWID post states they will drop both from regular Haunted Sectors and Legend Haunted Sectors, with the latter making them more common. These Engrams can either be opened immediately or saved for when players have enoughCandy inDestiny 2’s Festival of the Lost event to spend on Hocus Focusing, which will provide them with multiple options. In terms of Exotic armor pieces, players will be able to spend 2500 Candy and one Eerie Engram per focusing attempt.

There are rules to this, with players being able to obtain any Exotic (even those they don’t own) as long as they own the expansion they are from. In terms of Festival of the Lost weapons inDestiny 2, players will be able to focus a random weapon for one Eerie Engram and 500 Candy or a specific weapon for one Eerie Engram and 1000 Candy. Finally, players will be able to get their hands on an exclusive Memento that will apply tocrafted weapons inDestiny 2, donning them with a sleek black and dark brown shader. It’s unclear if this is going to be the only way to get it, but the TWID post alludes to the Memento randomly dropping from Eerie Engrams.
Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
