June 11, 2025, sees another weekly reset hitDestiny 2. This week, players will be taking the fight to the EDZ with The Lake of Shadows Grandmaster Nightfall. This is the finale for Season 20’s Season of Defiance, as next week,Destiny 2players can expect a brand-new season, along with a new rotation of Strikes as the weekly Nightfall. Lake of Shadows isn’t the hardest Grandmaster Nightfall, but that does not mean players will face a difficult challenge, especially when the boss room is a circular arena surrounded by deadly Taken energy.

With The Lake of Shadows taking the spotlight for this week, many players might want to know how to cheese the Lake of Shadows boss, so that they can have a smoother, cleaner run. As players know, if all Guardians go down, then they will return to Orbit, losing all of their progress. Clearing the Grandmaster Nightfall with this cheese is a great idea, especially when one considers it is Double Vanguard Reputation for the final week of Season 20.
Grandmaster Nightfalls is difficult. They are activities meant for endgame players to show off what they have learned, with each Guardian having a unique build of exotics, best armor mods, aspects, and fragments, sometimes a cheese spot is the extra safety net they need to acquire the rewards that await them from that finishing chest. There’s an easy Lake of Shadows cheese waiting for Guardians that want to jump into the EDZ right now.

How To Get To The Final Boss
Reaching the Lake of Shadows boss is no easy task. Players will have a journey to take, in which they will be battling hordes of Taken and Cabal enemies. Not only are these red-bar ads an issue, but players will be facing off against Champions that can easily cause a Fireteam to die and lose out on their revive tokens if they are not careful. Bringing througha team consisting of well-played subclasseslike a Ward of Dawn Titan, Well of Radiance Warlock, and a Strand or Shadowshot Hunter, is a great idea.
Considering that Strand is going to be the featured subclass of the year thanks to the release of Lightfall, it’s always a consistently great choice to bring to the table for all classes. Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans can benefit from Strand thanks to Woven Mail and the ability to use Strand grenades to suspend enemies and Champions into the air. Suspending targets will relieve the pressure some enemies put on Guardians, and help to defeat Barrier and Unstoppable champions present throughout the Grandmaster Nightfall.

The best way to progress through the Lake of Shadows Grandmaster Nightfall is to stick as a team and know what to do. It’s best to know the enemy types, their shields, the weekly buffs/de-buffs, and especially the Champions present, as players won’t be able to change their loadouts once they have loaded into the Grandmaster Nightfall.
For players that want to make the utmost progress no matter what, there’sa recently discovered Lake of Shadows skipthat can get players straight into the boss room, although it still requires them to complete the two Darkness payloads, kill the first Primeval boss and to venture through the sewer areas, it will allow them to skip the feared Tormentor section, as this boss will have the Guardians trapped in a small room.

How To Reach The Cheese Spot
Once players have finally reached the final boss encounter for Lake of Shadows, they will find the easy Nightfall cheese well within their grasp. For starters, players should ignore the Darkness essence in the boss room, as shooting it will activate the boss. For now, players can take their time in learning how to perfect the cheese spot so that they andtheir great Fireteamare safe from the incoming calamity.
As players enter the room, they will want to look to the left of the middle area. They will see a destroyed pillar. Standing on this pillar will give them the height they need to make the jump to the device that is on the left wall, noted through the orange wires that flow into it. After players jump onto here, they will want to look up and make another jump to a pillar that is surrounded by foliage.

The next part of the cheese is the most difficult, and players will want to verify they have either great Mobility stats or the correct jumps on their build. To perfect the jump, players need to run and press their jump button to reach the metal beam that droops down. It looks like a hook, and players will want to land on the hook or mantle it if they are close enough. If players miss their jump, they will likely fall to their death and waste a Revive token.
Now that players are on the metal hook, they will want to once again use their jump lift, and strafe to the right to mantle on top of the roof. Proceeding left until “Joining Allies” leaves the screen, players will then find the final spot where they will besafe from the boss and able to cheese him. There’s a metal beam that acts as a railing, and players can use this metal beam as cover while they sit on the pillar next to it.

Once here, the cheese is done. Players can proceed to shoot the pyramid in the middle of the room to spawn the boss. There’s more than enough room for three players up here. If players stand on the railing, they may risk getting shot by the boss and the ads, so it’s best to stick behind it and only shoot when it is safe and the Guardian is in full health. It shouldn’t take too long to kill the boss if the player is running effective and safe weaponry inthis FPS shooter.
Weapons To Use In The Cheese
There’s a variety of weapons that players can use whilst they are in the cheese spot for Lake of Shadows. However, there are some weapons they will want to avoid. Bringing in Special Ammo weapons may not be the best idea in the world, as once players are in the cheese spot, they are not going to want to leave said spot due to the difficulty they may have in re-entering the spot, and the fact that the countless ads and the boss will be endlessly shooting the player that wants to risk it all just for an ammo brick.

It’s probably best to bring kinetic weapons, like scout rifles, auto rifles, or bows, anything that can truly penetrate the health of the boss. Some great choices would be bows like the Wish-Ender and Le Monarque. Both of these bows are kinetic andthe best Exotics, meaning they will deal a large damage buff and have infinite ammo. Weapons like Le Monarque will poison the final boss, whereasa bow like Wish-Enderwill pierce shields and go through multiple enemies, providing better and more satisfying critical hit damage. Bows are a great choice for the final boss in Lake of Shadows, but they are certainly not the only choice that the player has.
Other weapons that might be effective are Scout Rifles. In Season 20, Void Scout Rifles can benefit from buffs like Volatile Rounds on Void subclasses. Perhaps the best Scout Rifle for this is the Doom of Chelchis, a Void Scout Rifle that has a great Origin Trait, as well as perk rolls like Explosive Payload and Dragonfly. There are plenty of great Scout Rifle options for consistent damage, as the range and accuracy of a Scout Rifle will bolster impressive damage and accuracy.
For the largest chunk of damage, players are probably going to want to use their Power Weapon. For Lake of Shadows, Machine Guns are buffed with a 25% damage increase, as are theStrand subclass and weapons. Machine Guns are a good choice in the Power Weapon slot, especially Circular Logic since it is both Strand and a Machine Gun. It’s a good weapon for clearing out Champions, and the Tormentor, and with a consistent ammo count for the final boss, players can pull off some great critical hit spots to start eating away at the final boss’ health bar.
Some players might want to bring the best Rocket Launchers andthe best Grenade Launchersto the fight due to their consistently great damage, even if neither weapon type is the 25% buffed weapon of the week. Bringing one of these weapons is not a terrible idea, as plenty of Champions and yellow-bar enemies, including the dreaded Threshers, will need to be killed to get to the boss quickly, effectively, and without dying. However, these weapons are riskier than others, as players might accidentally blow themselves up, as the cheese spot has a railing that is safe to shoot behind, but some shots will hit the invisible wall attached to the metal railing, rather than the intended target.
