Sidearms are not the strongest archetype inDestiny 2, but they do have a niche in which some players consider them a go-to weapon. For those players, theTrespasseris a must-have Exotic sidearm due to its satisfying burst shooting pattern, and the ability to chain Arc damage to enemies as players get kills and reload.

TheTrespasseralso comes with its own Catalyst and Catalyst quest inDestiny 2. Those interested in scoring this Arc sidearm, especially with Arc 3.0 now out for Season of the Plunder, will need to know where to get theTrespasser’s Catalyst from and what it takes to unlock it. As per usual, Catalysts take quite a lot of grinding to complete, so at the end of this guide, a short analysis weighing some of the pros and cons of theTrespasserhas been added in to further help players decide whether this is the weapon for them.

How To Get TheTrespasserExotic Sidearm

TheTrespasserExotic sidearm was a seasonal pass rewardfor Season of the Haunted. Those who completed their season’s pass will likely have claimed the sidearm and already picked up its Exotic quest from Banshee-44. Even free season pass owners may have unlocked this weapon if they leveled up their seasonal pass far enough during Season 18, so double-check the Vault before rushing to buy this weapon.

For those who missed out on Season of the Haunted, theTrespassersidearm can be bought from the Monument to Lost Lights Exotic kiosk at the Tower. Players will need the following resources to afford it:

How To Get The Catalyst ForTrespasser

After players have picked up theTrespasser, Banshee-44 will have a quest for them. Those who already have theTrespassermay have this quest in their quest archive, so make sure to check there just in case (also found in the Tower and in the H.E.L.M.). The quest is called “No Trespassing” and comes in three steps that players will have to complete before they are gifted the Catalyst by Banshee-44.

Step 1:Players don’t need to use theTrespasserto complete the tasks in this step. Any weapons with precision damage and Arc affinity will suffice. Fallen enemies can be found most commonly in various Vanguard strikes, the Cosmodrome patrol area, the Grasp of Avarice dungeon, and the Deep Stone Crypt raid.

Step 2:Players will need to get kills with theTrespasserto complete this step. These kills need to be in playlist activities, such as Vanguard strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. The process is sped up when players win matches in Crucible and Gambit, or if they do higher difficulty strikes such as Nightfall Strikes.

Step 3:Return to the Tower and talk to Banshee-44, who will reward the player with theTrespasserCatalyst.

Destiny 2 The Leviathan

To slot in theTrespasserCatalyst, players will need to score an additional 700 kills with the weapon. Altars of Sorrowand the Grasp of Avarice entry areaare both great locations to level up primary weapons like theTrespasser.

What The Catalyst Does

With the Catalyst successfully slotted in, theTrespasserwill gain an additional perk: Tunnel Vision. This might feel a bit underwhelming for PVE players in particular who were looking for something a bit more exciting than just better target acquisition and a boost in how fast players can aim down sights while using theTrespasser.

However, for PVP sidearm lovers this is a dream come true and makes theTrespassera cool and unique weapon to whip outin casual PVP.

Is TheTrespasserCatalyst Worth It?

Given the amount of grinding that goes into unlocking the Catalyst and then slotting it in, one might ask if theTrespasserCatalyst is even worth it. In the grand scheme of things it isn’t, because sidearms continue to be a weak weapon archetype, particularly on the PVE side of things.

For PVP, sidearms are their own niche. Some players will find enjoyment in them, and in some ways, they can be useful against enemies rushing in with shotguns, though this style of gameplay is growing less popular due to the abundance of long-range maps and the prevalence of pulse riflesand scout rifles in PVP.

Destiny 2 Trespasser Catalyst

That said, it is a powerful sidearm, and among the best. It’s also an Arc weapon, which means it will have a degree of synergy with any Arc 3.0 builds that players come up with during season 18. Its range is perfect for most Arc builds anyway which rely on melee power, so having that extra range that scout rifles and pulse rifles have might not even be that important for some players.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia.
