A number of recent leaks and datamined information make it clear that Trials of Osiris is returning next season inDestiny 2. Alongside wrapping up the activities that are left in Season of Dawn, players should also start thinking about how best to prepare for Trials of Osiris. While it is unclear how exactlyTrials of Osiris coming backwill fit into the game (Will it be the main activity in Season 10? Or just a new PvP event/playlist?), Trials has always been, by definition, an endgame PvP experience. Just as players prep for an upcoming raid as an endgame PvE experience, players should start thinking about Trials of Osiris now.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions that will undoubtedly further inform players’ preparation decisions once those are known, such as how next season’s artifact will affect the meta with its seasonal mods. That could potentially shake up a lot of things as seen withthis Season of Dawn’s mods, which focused more on longer-range rifle archetypes. There have also been mods that have led to powerful PvP builds like last season’s Arc Battery/Wormhusk Crown combo that made Hunters super tanky.

Whatever next season’s artifact brings could heavily impact the PvP meta, which tends to be especially concentrated in the highly competitive Trials of Osiris game mode where players tend to use the most powerful weapons and abilities in the game to win. Add to that any sandbox changes made in the game update that will accompany Season of the Worthy. However, there are some steps thatDestiny 2players can take regardless to help them prepare for the return of Trials of Osiris.

Farm for Meta Destiny 2 Weapons

If history serves as a guide, players will be using the most powerful, meta weapons in the game to get the upper hand in Trials of Osiris. That means that players will want to verify they have those key weapons in their arsenal as well.

Currently, the most popular kinetic weapon in the Crucible at the moment, accounting for 12% of kills according to stat site Guardian.gg, is Spare Rations.Spare Rations is a hand cannonthat has been at the top of the meta ever since it debuted in Season of the Drifter, and it can be earned through the Reckoning (on certain days) and in Gambit Prime.

Spare Rations is joined in the top rankings of the kinetic slot by The Last Word, Ace of Spades, Thorn, which are all exotics that can be earned via their respective quests. Also in the top 5 isthe sniper rifle Revoker, which is a pinnacle weapon from Season of Opulence, but can still be earned via its quest.

In the Energy slot, shotguns Lord of Wolves andMindbender’s Ambitionare in the top spots, both with over 10% of the total kills in the Crucible. The Beloved sniper rifle is also one of the most popular, a sniper that feels like a Destiny 1 sniper and is easily farmed from the Menagerie. The pinnacle weapon Luna’s Howl is also sitting nicely in the Energy slot, also earned via its lengthy pinnacle quest.

Put together a PvP build in Destiny

Weapons are one part of the equation of being effective in Trials of Osiris. The other is the abilities that players have at their disposal. Now is a good time to start putting together a super solid PvP build that is independent of seasonal mods. Seasonal mods will come and go but players should have a solid go-to subclass andArmor 2.0 loadoutthat they feel highly competitive with. Now is a good time to farm for armor with high stat rolls in the places players care most about.

As mentioned, the Season 10 mods could make for even stronger builds than what players can currently put together, but players who have a high stat (even Masterworked) armor build that synergizes with their playstyle and the abilities in their favored subclass will be one step ahead at the beginning of Season of the Worthy.

Practice in Destiny 2’s Elimination

The Trials of Osiris game mode is currently available in the game now inthe Elimination playlist. Elimination has its own strategies and flow outside of the second-to-second gunplay, so players should spend a lot of time in that playlist in the last month or so of Season of Dawn. Gathering a fireteam now is even better so that players can start to get comfortable playing with one another and become familiar as a team. Trials of Osiris has always required a pre-made fireteam and not allowed matchmaking with random teammates, so having a good team is a must.

It is unclear when in Season 10 Trials of Osiris will come back, but it is all but officially confirmed that it will be. Take these steps and practice to be ready for when Trials does return.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
