SeveralDiablo 4players reported that their experience with the game has hit some major snags, as latency and rubberbanding issues continued to persist after a recent maintenance period. Players then took to social media to share information on thisDiablo 4issue.

Earlier this week,Diablo 4released Patch 1.0.3to all platforms, bringing buffs to all five of the game’s classes. In addition, Blizzard stated that it would continue to listen to player feedback when it comes to feature implementation, such as moving gems to the crafting materials inventory rather than the standard bags. However, given the always-online nature ofDiablo 4, some problems are prone to happen across the different platforms that the game is on. Despite the improvements that were made inDiablo 4’s recent 1.0.3 update, users continued to report severe latency issues in the wake of recent countermeasures taken.

A Reddit thread was started by a user named rocketmike on the r/diablo subreddit that aimed to collect more information on the latency issues that continue to plagueDiablo 4.As a PS5 player, rocketmike stated that while they use Comcast’s Xfinity cable internet as their ISP, their connection is usually stable. Initially, the OP thought that Blizzard’s servers and infrastructure were still shaky after a maintenance periodthat followed a recent DDOS attack. The comments in the thread proved that rocketmike is not alone in dealing with the latency issues inDiablo 4. Other users pointed out that the lag and rubberbanding they experienced happened on Xbox consoles and PC as well. The lag spikes also impacted users of different ISPs, and not just Xfinity.

However, one user stated that their latency issues intensified during primetime hours in North America, with some measurements going as high as 1,500 milliseconds. The issues in their case subsided when the game was not as populated during the work week. Another user expressed concerns that the latency would affect hardcore runs inDiablo 4. In some circumstances, one lag spike or server disconnect couldcause a player to lose their hardcore characterto something beyond their control. At the time of writing, Blizzard has not publicly commented on these recent latency reports.

Though Blizzard will continue toimproveDiablo 4’s quality of lifeas time goes on, the nature of it being an always-online game is one that will remain a subject of debate. Only time will tell when these recent lag issues will be cleared up.

Diablo 4is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
