The day and night cycles inDying Light 2play a huge part in the protagonist Aiden’s survival. The most dangerous forms of undead come out at night, and Aiden’s immunity levels also start counting down.
In the darkness, Aiden’s only line of defense inDying Light 2is utilizing ultraviolet light. It’s best to avoid venturing out at night as much as possible, especially in theearly stages ofDying Light 2. However, there will be occasions where the story puts Aiden in certain situations where the night and its many dangers can’t be avoided.

Aiden’s first line of defense in the gameis learning to run away from a fight that he can’t win. Thankfully, theparkour mechanics inDying Light 2are so well implemented that usually make it a breeze. Unfortunately, running away won’t always work, and it’s very easy to find oneself overwhelmed by a horde of zombies or chased down by creatures like the Volatiles which can outrun Aiden in a chase.
One of the most effective ways to combat the undead or hold them off long enough to make an escape is by using the UV barsuntil Aiden can get his hands on a UV torch. The UV light will burn and damage all undead within its radius.
Getting a UV Bar
There are two ways for Aiden to get his hands on a UV bar:
Purchasing A UV Bar
Aiden won’t have to wait long to get his hands on a UV bar as they areavailable atthe Bazaara hub for merchants and members of the Survivors. The UV Bars are purchasable from Alberto’s stall. This is available when Aiden is tasked with exploring and talking to every one of significance at the Bazaar.
Crafting A UV Bar
Aiden needs to purchase aUV Bar blueprintfrom Alberto at the Bazaar to craft a UV bar. Aiden will first meet Alberto during one of the game’s first side quests “The Spark of Invention.” This is a quest where Alberto’s son Vincenzo will ask Aiden to switch the power on and electrify his goat fence. However, the blueprint won’t become available until later in the game afterearning Sophie’s trustby accepting side missions at the Bazaar during themain story quest called “The Only Way Out”.
With the Blueprint, Aiden can now craft the UV Bar by using the following materials:
That’s all Aiden will need butonly use the UV bars in desperate situationsas they can be expensive items to buy and craft early in the game.
