Fallout’s Unstoppables are the franchise’s equivalent of comic-book heroes. In total, there is the Silver Shroud, Mistress of Mystery, The Inspector, Manta Man, andGrognak the Barbarian. The Silver Shroud received a questline inFallout 4, and then the Mistress of Mystery had the spotlight inFallout 76, but the other Unstoppables are long overdue for some more exposure in theFalloutgames. Nearly all the Unstoppables are already inFallout 76, but they are limited to cosmetic cameos, with a few exceptions.

The Unstoppables have costumes and weapons skins inFallout 76, but what’s really missing is their armor and weaponry. Given how most of these characters are already in the game in some way, shape, or form,Fallout 76is the perfect opportunity to give the Unstoppables more time in the sun. Especially considering how much depth there is to the Mistress of Mystery’s quests inFallout 76, limiting the other Unstoppables to mostly cosmetics is a missed opportunity.

The Mistress of Mystery Quest and Gear in Fallout 76

The Mistress of Mystery has an impressively entertaining and rewarding questline inFallout 76, and it can be started by finding the remains of a member of the Order of Mystery across Appalachia. The quests take players through the tragic history of the Order of Mystery’s members and also allow players to climb the organization’s ranks to become the Mistress of Mystery themselves. What really sweetens the deal about becoming the Mistress of Mystery is that players will also unlock the character’s unique armor set and some of theirnamed legendary weapons inFallout 76.

The Mistress of Mystery’s armor set inFallout 76is like no other, and the game should continue that trend. This particular armor set isn’t the most practical, but considering how unique it is, it’s definitely worth collecting. Additionally, there are 2 weapons from the Mistress of Mystery set, and the questline also features one of the Mistress’ signature gadgets, known as the Phantom Device, which is a Stealth Boy with additional functionality. When the Mistress of Mystery’s armor and cosmetic pieces are worn together it increases the potency of the effects on the armor and weapons. Another feature that the Mistress of Mystery armor and weapons benefit from is that players can upgrade these gear tothe max level inFallout 76if they were earned at lower levels.

The Unstoppables from the Fallout Franchise Need More Appearances

The Silver Shroud armor inFallout 4is one of the best protections against ballistic damage, but inFallout 76this same armor is purely cosmetic.Fallout 4also gave Grognak the Barbarian a unique armor set and weapon, and while this weapon made a reappearance inFallout 76, the armor set once again got demoted to a cosmetic costume between games. When it comes to unique armor sets in that aren’tpower armor inFallout 76, the variety is a bit lacking, which is the perfect opportunity for the Unstoppables to step up and be more than costumes and weapon skins.

Ultimately it can be a bit of a letdown for veteran players in theFalloutfranchise who come across the Unstoppables’ costumes inFallout 76because of past expectations. The one redeeming quality of the repurposed Unstoppables’ gear is that players can roll any desiredlegendary weapon effects inFallout 76onto Grognax’s Axe since it isn’t inherently a named legendary weapon.

At any rate, theFalloutgames still have yet to give The Inspector, Manta-Man, and Grognak the Barbarian a proper questline. Given how these characters are already inFallout 76with costumes and weapon skins among other minor appearances,Fallout 76should take the Unstoppables to the next level.Fallout 76is still undergoing continued support and development for the next few years, so future updates should seriously consider giving the other Unstoppables the same treatment as the Mistress of Mystery.

Fallout 76is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
