SPOILERS AHEAD
Since the release of theFalloutshow, Vault Dweller Norm has been a very popular character in the fandom. He feels like the fourth main character in many ways, alongside his sister Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul. He drives an entire plotline after all, largely on his own, investigatingthe mysteries of Vaults 31, 32, and 33. Throughout the process, it becomes clear that Norm isn’t a “normal” Vault Dweller either.
Game Rant recently spoke with Norm actor Moises Arias about hisFalloutcharacter’s role in the story at large. When we asked how he felt about the name contrasting his actions, he acknowledged that he feels like names have power in real life. As he said, “I think a name psychologically really does affect your daily life, and I think it definitely affects or influences how you approach your character or your scenes. Norm definitely exudes an aura with the name itself, and yeah, it’s kind of funny that he’s not your normal Vault Dweller.”

Fallout: Norm is Not Your ‘Normal’ Vault Dweller
Of course, Norm does appear very normal at first, but he begins to see things that most Vault Dwellers are ignorant of, intentionally or otherwise. Arias believes it was the fight-or-hide moment, early on in theFalloutshow, that helped Norm and Lucy step into their own roles. “They’re both very strong in their own ways,” Arias said, and while Lucy had the willpower to go out into the wasteland, Norm had the strength to see something was not right at home, either.
From the beginning, Arias says, “Norm was always very observant and seeing things were off in his world.” Perhaps nowhere in the show is this more obvious than when Norm speaks up about how to treatFallout’s Raidersand how his suggestion is met with disgust. His observations led him to listen to his gut and inner voice, sending him down the rabbit hole of the three vaults.

Fallout: Norm Sees What Nobody Else Can
Come theFalloutshow’s finale, Norm gets his answers, but he’s forced into a cryogenic chamber. This ending is not unlike the beginning ofFallout 4, and if that’s any indication, it’s very well plausible that Norm awakens very early. It would be a shame if his character did not appear inFalloutseason 2, and Arias believes there’s a way out, although he has no idea how exactly. Speaking on if Norm can get out of the cryogenic chamber, Arias said,
“I think there’s not just one or two options. Now, do I know what the possibilities are? No, but I’m hoping there’s something that can be done with his hacking skills or his ability to see other things that aren’t totally obvious.”
Fans will have to wait and see what comes of Norm in relation toFalloutseason 2, but with his gift of observation, there may very well be something he saw that the fans didn’t necessarily. It’s unlikely the events ofFalloutare completely done with these Vaults either way, and it’ll be interesting to see how they and Norm come into play in the new season, assuming they do.
