Final Fantasy 14has grown to becomeone of the biggest MMORPGs, becoming the biggest competitor to the MMO behemoth that isWorld of Warcraft. InFF14, Eorzea is home to hundreds of thousands of Warriors of Light, who all play the game for its MSQ, raiding, casual content, and community kinship.
Another fun feature ofFF14and many other MMORPGs is mount collecting, asFF14has almost 200 mounts available for players to collect. Although some mounts are simple to attain, several are incredibly challenging to acquire due to complex and challenging objectives set in place. Many mounts, like the following, are a rarity for players to see in the game.
While rare, PVP mounts, Mog Station mounts, and limited-time event mounts will not be included.

With the release of these new expansions, new mounts have been added, with many becoming exceedingly rare in the game. Therefore, the list has been altered dramatically to include mounts fromEndwalkerandDawntrail.
12Centurio Tiger
Tiger Mount Obtained Through Extensive A & S Rank Farming
The Centurio Tiger is one of the cleanest and most vivid mounts inFFXIV, and is highly prized by many in Eorzea. Added inStormblood, the Centurio Tiger is only claimable bykilling 3000 A elite marks and 2000 S elite marks,a lengthy feat that only a handful of players have accomplished.
Ever since its release inStormblood, players have struggled to obtain the Centurio Tiger, with the grind required to obtain the mount being strenuous. Players trying to farm for the Centurio Tiger often utilize tools such asFFXIVDiscords and websites to aid their search for elite marks, speeding up the grind.
11Wivre
Endwalker Mount Claimed Through Fate Farming
Another exceedingly challenging mount to attain is the Wivre mount, which requires significant fate farming to obtain. To unlock and claim the Wivre mount, players must receive500 Bicolor Gemstone Vouchersand exchange them with Edelina in Mor Dhona.
First, players require 50,000 Bicolor Gemstones, which they can obtain through completing fates inShadowbringersorEndwalkerlocations to acquire the required number of vouchers from Old Sharlayan or Radz-at-Han. If players have the means, the Wivre mount can be obtained on the marketboard. Its price has stayed at roughly 60m, causing many to balk at seller’s demands.
10Astrope
Ethereal Mount Given To Those Who Mentor Novices
With many horse and unicorn mounts available inFF14, no mount is as impressive and ethereal as the Astrope mount, which has been heavily sought aftersince its release inHeavensward. To claim Astrope, players must achieve the"I Hope Mentor Will Notice Me VI"achievement. This requires the completion of 2000 Mentor roulettes, which involves helping novices in duties and trials.
Completing 2000 duties and trials is a significant obstacle, resulting in the Astrope mount being one of the rarest mounts even after several years of being available in-game.
9Pteranodon
An Enormous Grind For Players Since Its Release
For many years, Pteranodon was one of the rarest mounts inFF14, and has very few owners to this day. The dinosaur mount requires mass grinding to obtain. Players need to gain a500,000 Skyward Score in everyDisciple of the Hand and Land job.
With all gathering and crafting jobs needing to reach level 80, the time spent leveling jobs and gaining the required amount of Skyward Score can take players several hundred hours to complete. The chase for Pteranodon is a monumental task.
8Triceratops
Shadowbringers Mount Farmed By Killing A & S Ranked Marks
Released duringShadowbringers, the Triceratops mount remains a rarity, becoming a daunting obstacle for mount farmers all over Eorzea. To obtain it, players must undergo a gigantic farm, killing2000 A and 1000 S rank marks in Norvrandt.
Only a handful of players around the world have undergone the process to obtain Triceratops.FFXIVwebsites and Discords are crucial for learning times and locations of the A and S ranks that spawn, with this being the most optimal wayto get the dinosaur mount.
7Monowheel S1
Futuristic Mount Attainable By Clearing Latest Savage Tier
The release ofDawntrail’sfirst raid tier, The Arcadion, has led to thousands of players descending to their static groupsto kill the new and challenging Savage fights. For completing AAC Light-heavyweight M4 Savage, players have the opportunity to receive the Monowheel S1. This futuristic wheel mount takes after the aesthetic of Solution Nine, the home to The Arcadion.
To get the mount, players mustclear M1S through M4S in one weekwhile winning the item roll after clearing M4S. Despite the challenge of Savage tier and luck-based odds, the Monowheel S1 is worth the effort, with its flashy design and rarity.
6Victor
Endwalker Mount Obtained Through Endless Hunt Farming
InEndwalker, no mount is more punishing to farm or as rare as the Victor mount, a ferocious beast that few players in the game possess. The Victor mount requires players to kill2000 A Marks and 1000 S MarksinEndwalkerzones.
Players who wish to obtain the mount would be best served to join relevantFFXIVDiscords to learn of A and S Marks becoming available. This enables players to farm for one of the most challenging mounts to attain in all ofFFXIV.
5Outrunner
Level Every Job To Max Level
Based on Cahciua’s appearance in much ofDawntrail’sMSQ, the Outrunner is a quirky and fun mount that requires several hours of grinding to achieve. Players wishing to claim the mount must attain the achievements"Mastering War VI" and “Mastering Magic VI,“completed by leveling every combat job to the maximum level.
With over 20 combat jobs to get to level 100, the mount requires a heavy dosage of grinding that includesdoing roulettes, raids, and dungeons. The Outrunner mount is a slog for players to obtain.
4Ty’aitya
Squirrel Mount Acquired Through Fate Farming
Ty’aitya is anotherDawntrailmount that requires a lot of time and effort to obtain, but has already become a fan favorite among theFFXIVcommunity. To obtain Ty’aitya, players must collect500 Turali Bicolor Gemstones VouchersfromDawntrailzones. Players must complete a large amount of fates to gain enough Bicolor Gemstones to exchange for vouchers.
Although obtaining the mount is a significant grind, Ty’aitya is available on the marketboard, albeit for an exorbitant price, leaving players to farm fates to gain the cute and vibrant mount.
3Qeziigural
Treasure Map Mount Requires Luck Or Gil To Attain
Treasure map hunts have always beena fun and exciting addition toFFXIV. The chance to win expensive, luxurious loot is enticing for many players. For the latest hunt, the Timeworn Br’aaxskin Map, players must enter Cenote Ja Ja Gural to have a chance of getting aTwilight Gemstone.Three gemstones will earn players the mount Qeziigural.
To get Qeziigural, players must claim three Twilight Gemstones and trade them in through the Miscellany NPC Uah’shepya in Solution Nine. Despite the luck required to win the loot rolls for Twilight Gemstones, players can purchase the gemstones or the mount directly from the marketboard. However, the price is steep, particularly with the mount only recently being added inDawntrail.
