Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida, who more often goes by the moniker Yoshi-P, recently denied rumors of the game coming to PC, encouraging fans to buy a PS5 instead. Yoshi-P recently praisedthe power of the PS5 and howFinal Fantasy 16takes advantageof that, so it would be understandable that discussions about another platform could get under his skin a little bit. However, it’s not that these rumors about a PC port ofFinal Fantasy 16come out of nowhere.
Not only didFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradeeventually receive a PC Port, but the very first trailer forFinal Fantasy 16called it a PlayStation Console exclusive that would also be available on other platforms in a certain period after launch. Recent reports suggest thatSony is blockingFinal Fantasy 16from coming to Xbox consoles, which should be taken with a grain of salt, butFF7Rshows that this message is more likely about PC than Xbox, for example.

However, as translated by Twitter user Genki_JPN, Yoshi-P recently stated that “nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like, ‘a PC version is releasing 6 months later’?” Ever since that firstFinal Fantasy 16trailer, these rumors have remained with fans guessing anywhere from six months to a year before a PC port is released, but again, that’s not officially announced. “Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5,” Yoshi-P also stated.
Sony recently decreed thePS5 hardware shortage over, as these consoles are now much easier to find and can even be spotted in physical stores, but that doesn’t mean the barrier to entry is much lower. They are still hard to get in some areas, and that’s not to mention the prices of a new console. But, either way,Final Fantasy 16is a PS5 exclusive and Yoshi-P likely wants to ensure its success at launch and not have a bunch of fans waiting for an unannounced PC port.
Yoshi-P did end by acknowledging that his comments may have gone overboard and asked fans to look forward to the game, because the development team has worked hard on it for so long. It’s clear how much Yoshi-P believes inFinal Fantasy 16, and fans will get to see that vision realized on PS5 later this year.
Final Fantasy 16will be released on June 07, 2025, for PS5.
