TheFinal Fantasyseries is home to some of the most renowned stories in video game history. Most entries follow a similar premise, but each title features a unique set of characters, each of whom possesses different motivations, skills, and personalities. All these aspects combined usually prove to create a compelling narrative, filled with beautiful and wholesome moments.

Though it depends on the entry, mostFinal Fantasytitles are home to compelling storylines. Some are considered better than others, however, but that doesn’t mean each narrative will lack endearing moments.Final Fantasyisbursting with wholesome moments, but some are more iconic than others.
5Zack Meets Cloud - Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunionfollows Zack Fair on his journey to become a hero. To get there, however, he must first prove himself to bea capable SOLDIER, which requires him to complete a series of dangerous assignments along the way. One task, in particular, requires him to travel to Modeoheim with Tseng and two Shinra infantrymen.
On their way to Modeoheim, Zack and his comrades crash-land in the nearby mountains. They are then forced to make the rest of the journey on foot, but it isn’t too difficult as Zack is familiar with the terrain. Much to his surprise, Zack learns that one of the infantrymen is also familiar with landscapes such as this. When asked for his name, the infantryman removes his helmet,revealing himself to be Cloud Strife, the protagonist ofFinal Fantasy 7. This moment is especially wholesome as it presents Cloud in a much more pleasant light than what he is most commonly known for.

4Tidus & Yuna Reunite - Final Fantasy 10-2
Upon reaching the summit of Mt. Gagazat inFinal Fantasy 10, Tidus learns that he is a dream of the Fayth. He doesn’t understand what this means at first, but he eventually learns from Yunalesca that he is being summoned by Yu Yevon and that he doesn’t really exist. Defeating Yu Yevon will cause Tidus to disappear, but he refuses to shy away from his fate if it means he can end Spira’s suffering. As expected, Tidus vanishes once Yu Yevon is defeated, leavingYuna to lead her own storyinFinal Fantasy 10-2.
Final Fantasy 10-2documents Yuna’s journey across Spira as a sphere hunter. She lives a relatively normal life for the most part, but everything changes when she finds a sphere containing a recording of a young man wholooks like Tidus. She spends the remainder of the narrative trying to uncover the man’s identity and eventually learns that his name is Shuyin. Once she defeats him, a Fayth appears and offers to resurrect Tidus, to which the player can choose an answer. If they choose to revive him, the game’s post-credits will document Yuna and Tidus reuniting off the coast of Besaid Island. What makes this moment so wholesome is how long it took for the pair to reunite, and also how visibly happy they were when they did.

3Cloud & Aerith’s First Date - Final Fantasy 7 Remake
After attempting to destroy a Mako Reactor in Sector 5, Cloud ends up falling from the upper sector into theSector 5 Slums, where he awakens inside a church. There, he meets Aerith, a kind-spirited young woman who seeks Cloud’s help in getting back to her home. When Reno enters the church, Aerith asks Cloud to be her bodyguard. When Cloud asks for payment, Aerith insists that one date should be sufficient.
Though Cloud does his best to show as little interest in Aerith as possible, it’s clear he enjoys the time he spends with her. For most of their “date,” he assists Aerith whenever she asks. The most wholesome part of their date, however, takes place when Aerith asks Cloud to help her pick flowers and deliver them to the local orphanage. Until this point inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, Cloud presented himself as a tough guy, butAerith’s subtle influencepermits him to let a bit of his softer side show.

2Prompto & Aranea’s Farewell - Final Fantasy 15: Episode Prompto
While en route to Gralea to seek out the power of the Crystal, Prompto gets separated from his friends and is left to wander a snowy labyrinth. He eventually happens upon a Magitek Research Facility, in which he learns how he came to be. The Niflheim Empire has been manufacturing human clones and using them to achieve its goals. This surprises Prompto, but learning that he is also a clone shocks him to his core.
Aranea, a former commodore of the Niflheim Empire, finds and rescues Prompto from the facility before Verstael can attack. She then encourages Prompto to return to Noctis' side, but Prompto is hesitant. He believes he has no right to serve Noctis since he is nothing more than a pawn of the Niflheim Empire, butAranea refuses to accept this. She is also attempting to distance herself from her past, so hearing Prompto’s defeatist words infuriates her. Prompto eventually accepts to Aranea’s advice and teams up with her to stop Verstael. The climax ofEpisode Promptosees the two saying goodbye, having accepted that their pasts do not define them. This scene is especially wholesome because of how much Prompto changes after it ends.

1The Laugh Scene - Final Fantasy 10
Most fans ofFinal Fantasywill be familiar with the infamous laugh scene inFinal Fantasy 10, but probably not for the reason developers expected. The scene takes place shortly after Tidus learns thathis father, Jecht, became Sin shortly after vanishing from Zanarkand. He struggled to accept the news but knew he couldn’t discuss his feelings with his friends due to the sorrow Sin had engulfed their lives in. To deal with his frustrations, Tidus elects to laugh out loud in the presence of his friends, but only because Yuna asked him to try it out.

The scene that follows is awkward, but only because the laughter is being forced. Tidus and Yuna don’t have any real reason to laugh, let alone smile, but they continue to laugh anyway. Once the stilted laughter ends, the pair bursts into a much more genuine laughing fit, making their previous attempt feel worthwhile. What’s so wholesome about this particular scene is how it manages to injectFinal Fantasy 10’s harrowing narrative with a much-needed burst of joy.
