As the release date ofFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesapproaches, trailers have begun to show off the unique play style of each character. As isFire Emblemtradition, playable characters can wield a variety of weapons including swords, lances, axes, and more. As the game’s predecessor,Fire Emblem: Three Houses,featured a group of special weapons, armor, and accessories called the Heroes' Relics, fans speculated that these items might return inFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.However, a recent trailer revealed that that might not be the case for all of them.
This trailer focused on the members of the Blue Lions house, revealing designs and play styles for eight characters from theHoly Kingdom of Faerghus. A number of these characters hail from noble houses and inherited Heroes' Relics, weapons passed down within their families such the founding of Fodlan. Some Blue Lions were shown wielding their Relics in footage fromThree Hopes,while others notably lacked theirs.

Returning and Missing Heroes' Relics
In the latest trailer, fourHeroes' Relics- weapons once wielded by the heroes of legend, centuries before the events of the game - were shown. Prince Dimitri, leader of the Blue Lions, had his lance Areadbhar, Ingrid was shown with the lance Luin, Sylvain wielded the Lance of Ruin, and Annette took down enemies with the axe Crusher. Crusher’s appearance was particularly notable, as Annette inThree Houseswas a primarily magic-wielding unit who required significant training in axes to make proper use of her Relic. A previous trailer showed off two other Heroes' Relics, the bow Failnaught and the axe Freikugel, used by Claude and Hilda of the Golden Deer respectively.
However, several of the Blue Lions' relics were notably missing in the trailer: Felix did not have the Aegis Shield and Mercedes did not have the Rafail Gem. A previous trailer also showed Edelgard, leader of the Black Eagle house, wielding a new axe instead of herRelic Aymr. Six Relics are unaccounted for: the staff Thrysus, the gauntlets Vajra-Mushti, the accessory Fetters of Dromi, and the swords Blutgang, Thunderbrand, and the Sword of the Creator. Fans are particularly eager to know whether the Sword of the Creator will show up, as it was wielded by Byleth, who is replaced as the protagonist inThree Hopesby new character Shez.
Where Could The Missing Relics Be?
InThree Houses,most characters received their Relics from their parents after completing a particularly difficult mission. Felix lacking the Aegis Shield may signify a poorer relationship with his father Rodrigue, who may have not yet deemed his son worthy. Mercedes lacking the Rafail Gem is even more interesting - she receives it from the mysterious enemy known as theDeath Knight, who turns out to be her missing brother Jeritza. Given that the Death Knight has not been shown in any trailers forThree Hopes,it is possible that he might be holding on to the Relic. Fans are particularly eager to know what the Death Knight, a notoriously difficult enemy from the original game, might be up to in this new timeline.
Another possible reason for the missing Relics is a potential conflict between the characters and theChurch of Seiros, which hid the nature of the Relics from Fodlan’s noble families for centuries. In truth, the Heroes' Relics are made from the bones of ancient dragon-like creatures, a fact that disturbs and disgusts several characters when they learn it inThree Houses.Characters not wielding their Heroes' Relics could be doing so deliberately in opposition to the Church. Alternately, the characters, particularly Edelgard, could be opposing the antagonistic faction “Those Who Slither in the Dark,” whose experimentation with the bodies of fallen Heroes led to the ability to create Relics such as Aymr.
Whatever the reason, it is likely that the missing Heroes' Relics are just one way in which thestory ofThree Hopesgreatly differsfrom that of its predecessor. Hopefully, more trailers with new information will be released prior to the game’s debut.
