Summary

Chapter 5 ofFortniteis now underway, but some complaints and concerns about how movement has changed within the game have caused its official Twitter to make a statement regarding the update. AfterFortnite’s hugely successful finale eventfor the previous season, Chapter 5 is off to a bumpy start for some players who are unhappy with the game’s updated movement.

Fortnitehas been on a roll lately. Last season’srelease ofFortnite’s OG mapsaw the game reach peak player counts, and the record-breaking season was recently closed out with an epic in-game Eminem concert to ring in the arrival of Chapter 5. So far, the chapter has been praised by many players for its awesome new collaborations that are set to bring both Peter Griffin and Solid Snake into the same world. The new Battle Pass and map have also received approval from many players, but one issue with how movement is approached in the game’s latest chapter has left some players disappointed during actual gameplay.

The main complaint from some players is that the overall movement of characters feels very stiff compared to how it used to be. Combat inFortnitehas felt pretty fluid in the past, butthe change in Chapter 5has many players wishing the game would revert to the old movement, causingFortniteto make an official statement to disgruntled fans.

In the statement, concerns were addressed about movement changes, with the tweet even mentioning that it took developers time to get used to the new movement mechanics, as well. Running, sprinting, and crouching have all been slowed, and this is where a lot of criticism has come from when it comes to movement feeling stiff. AlthoughFortnite’s team made it clear they are listening to the concerns of fans, they are also hopeful that players will get used to the change over time.

Only time will tell ifFortnitewill go back to the old movement, but until then, there is at least a lot of great stuff to still look forward to inChapter 5’s first season. Not only is hurdling back, but wall climbing has been introduced, and this is at least a silver lining when it comes to an update to the game’s movement mechanics. Although hope isn’t lost for the old movement to return toFortnite, it looks like players who are unhappy with the change may have to get used to the new movement.
