A couple of Storm Circles have now been tweaked to try to balance the late-game in competitiveFortnite. Many gamers enjoy booting upFortniteso they can sit back and play a couple of matches to relax, but that’s not the case for everyone. The competitiveFortnitescene is huge, and in the past couple of years, it has really taken off with tournaments with large cash prizes at stake. Competitive players train hard almost every day and have to be on top of all changes made to the game.Epic Games updates the game regularly. It can be hard for players to keep up sometimes, especially when the developers add controversial items like last season’s Shockwave Hammer andthis season’s Kinetic Blade. In the end, Epic’s main objective is to keep competitiveFortnitea balanced ordeal while keeping it as entertaining as possible.RELATED:Fortnite Finally Adds Long Teased WeaponIn a recent tweet, the officialFortnitestatus account announced that some changes had been made to Storm Circle 6 and 7. In an attempt to prevent players from resorting to camping and healing in the late-game, the Storm Circle will now start moving into the storm as it shrinks. What Epic Games hopes to see with these zone adjustments is a decrease in the heal-off meta, in which players try to stay alive for as long as possible in the storm while consuming all of theirbest healing items. Although it is a completely valid gameplay strategy, many viewers aren’t entertained by watching their favorite streamers sit in a 1x1 while eating Floppers and using Chug Splashes to keep their HP up.

Even though some players were upset with the fact that this change was announced only a day beforeFNCS Major 2Week 2, others were simply content to see that Epic seems to be working hard to try to incentivize players to win based on their gaming skills and not due to luck with Storm Circle areas and HP restoration.

This season, there are various mobility items that continue to sustain these camping strategies. The Kinetic Blade andODM Gear recently added toFortniteboth help players move to the new safe zone in a flash and therefore keep enabling teams that simply want to build around themselves and avoid combat as much as possible in order to decrease their chances of being eliminated to other players.

Fortniteis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
