Like many modern triple-A titles,Battlefield 2042had a lot of issues when it first shipped out. Players encountered netcode problems at the time of its late 2021 launch, and the game was riddled with bugs that ruined an otherwise decent multiplayer FPS experience. Developer DICE has attempted to improve its game through regular updates, but it seems issues still persist even now.
In a recent post, Reddit user CourierSpurs1 showed off a funnyBattlefield 2042bug that made a player’s weapon spin uncontrollably when fired, making it appear as if the character was leaning to the left and right with their gun. DICE’s latest entry in its long-runningBattlefieldfranchise does not have a lean mechanic, but it was present inBattlefield 5. Meanwhile, contextual leaning systems were featured inBattlefield 4,Battlefield Hardline, andBattlefield 1, the latter of which is one of thehighest-ratedBattlefieldgamesof all time.
CourierSpurs1 seemingly mockedBattlefield 2042’s Season 7: Turning Point update that went live on March 19 by using, “New [Siege] update is cool,” as the caption of their post on theBattlefieldsubreddit. This was most likely a reference to Ubisoft’s popular tactical shooter,Rainbow: Six Siege, which has leaning as a major gameplay mechanic. LikeBattlefield 2042,Rainbow Six: Siegealso received a big update recently in the form of Operation Deadly Omen. This expansion added anew Rainbow operator named Deimos, and it also reworkedRainbow Six: Siege’s shield system, among other things.
Battlefield 2042 Season 7: Turning Tides Changes
In addition to fixing a number of bugs and implementing several quality-of-life improvements,Battlefield 2042’s controversial Update 7.0.0also gave players a new map, Haven, as well as three new weapons, namely, the AK 5C assault rifle, SCZ-3 submachine gun, and DFR Strife LMG. A second map called Stadium is set to be released during Season 7, but this is essentially just the stadium section ofBattlefield 2042’s Hourglass map.
EA previously claimed that there should be anewBattlefieldrelease in 2025, with CEO Andrew Wilson claiming that the game to succeedBattlefield 2042will be a reimagination of the series that will feature a connected ecosystem. There will also be new releases for theMass EffectandStar Warsfranchises in that year, according to EA CFO Stuart Canfield.
