Brinkwas developed by Splash Damage, published by Bethesda Softworks, and originally released in 2011 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The first-person team shooter received mixed reviews when it launched and was overshadowed by several high-profile releases that year, including Bethesda’s own seminalElder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

One user on Reddit going by the name of Brink_2_ has taken their commitment to the first-person shooter to the next level as they are the owner of 30 copies ofBrink. The photo posted directly to the r/Bethesda Softworks subreddit shows 12 PS3 boxes and 18 Xbox 360 copies of the game, seven of which are the special edition that featured additional weapons and bonuses from theDOOMfranchise.

Comments underneath the post are supportive of the original poster’s ongoing commitment to getting Bethesda to investigate the possibility of a sequel. While the game didn’t find a mainstream audience at the time, Bethesda made the decision to makeBrinka free-to-play title on Steam in 2021. Since then, there has been adedicated community of gamers who long to see aBrinksequel, even a decade after the game’s release.

To onlookers, Brink_2_’s cause might seem futile, but it wouldn’t be the first time the Microsoft-owned publisher has made a sequel to a cult game. In 2019, Bethesda surprised many when it announcedRage 2, a full-fledged sequel to a game that coincidentally also released in 2011. Sadly,Rage 2was met with mixed reviews, putting the likelihood of a follow-up in doubt.

The possibility of a new entry in theBrinkfranchise might not seem as outrageous as it first seems, as a lot has changed at Bethesda in the last decade. Microsoft’s acquisition of the publisher and all its subsidiary studios has allowed Bethesda the time to work on smaller-scale games like Tango Softworks’sHi-Fi Rush. The rhythm-adventure game was announced as a shadow drop to Xbox Game Pass in January 2023 and has been a surprise hit for Bethesda, leadingTango Softworks creating additional challenges forHi-Fi Rushplayers in recent months. It remains to be seen ifBrinkwill eventually get a follow-up but with dedicated fans like Brink_2_ there is always a chance.
