ASkyrimplayer has managed to steal the Dark Brotherhood’s front door while playing the game.Skyrim’s Dark Brotherhoodis one of the most iconic questlines featured in the game, and every player of the game will instantly recognize the Black Door.
WhenSkyrimwasreleased in 2011, expectations were high for Bethesda with the next iteration of the Dark Brotherhood. While some felt thatSkyrim’s factions left a lot to be desired, there was still praise set aside for the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild, and to this day it remains a big reason that players continue to return to the game. Some mods out there even take the opportunity to revamp the Dark Brotherhood, so that the experience of playing it can be fresh again for even the most experienced ofSkyrimplayers.

The strange image was posted to Reddit by user TeleportingRoach, showing the Dark Brotherhood’s Black Door being carried on the back of the Dragonborn. Interestingly, they appear to be holding it as if it’s a shield, so it’s possible that they’re actually able to use it in combat.Skyrimalready has plenty of combat modsthat change the way players fight in the game. If this is a mod, it would certainly be one of the stranger ones available for the game.
Players in the thread were taken aback by the bizarre sight, with one player joking that it was “giving doordash a whole new meaning.” It’s unclear exactly how the image came to be. There are plenty of strangeSkyrimmods out there that might allow something like this, but the Redditor was coy in the thread about how they’d acquired the door. It would still seem tame compared to thewildSkyrimmod that lets players trip out on Skooma. It’s certainly not something players are able to do in the base game ofSkyrim, and if it’s a glitch, it would be quite a unique one.
Gamers will be hoping the Dark Brotherhood will make a return inThe Elder Scrolls 6. The faction has been a mainstay in the franchise for years, and it always seems to inspire some of Bethesda’s best and most interesting quest designs. Many players feel thatOblivionperfected the Dark Brotherhoodback when it was released in 2006, but that shouldn’t stop Bethesda from continuing to try to innovate and improve going forward. Hopefully if it does return, the Black Door is a little more secure next time around.
