Summary
After much anticipation,Genshin Impacthas at last released The Thundering Seamstress Chiori. This 5-star Geo character from Inazuma was first whispered about back in Version 3.7 and finally unveiled as an NPC residing in Fontaine in Version 4.3. She made an impression with her elaborate but elegant design that clearly hinted at her future inclusion as a playable character.Genshin Impactwill often introduce playable characters in the background as interesting NPCs to build hype before their release as playable units.
Before her release, prospective Chiori players were left to speculate as to what her abilities were. Thanks to theofficial Version 4.5 Livestream, players now know that she is a sword wielder with powers that relate to her profession as a renowned seamstress. Chiori will be available on the “Of Silken Clouds Woven” Event Wish Banner starting on March 13 alongside the Dragon of Water, Neuvillette.

Normal Attack: Weaving Blade
Chiori is set apart fromotherGenshin Impactsword usersbecause she appears to wield two blades at once, mimicking the scissors she uses as a seamstress. Her normal attack performs up to four rapid strikes, the second blade always disappearing once she is done. Chiori’s charged attack, which consumes stamina, unleashes two rapid strikes.
While Chiori seems to be built out as a DPS, her physical attacks are weak compared to her elemental abilities, which scale with her ATK and DEF stats.

Chiori’s Kit in Genshin Impact
Elemental Skill: Fluttering Hasode
Chiori’s Elemental Skill is called “Fluttering Hasode,” a useful AoE damage-dealing dash that can be used in concert with other units. By tapping the skill, Chiori will dash forward and execute an upward slash that dealsAoE Geo damage. If players hold the skill, they can aim the dash in specific directions, even above enemies. This becomes obviously useful when paired with the two additional abilities granted to Chiori when she uses Fluttering Hasode.
Tailor-made Passive: Tapestry
If the player taps the Elemental Skill a second time after unleashing it, Chiori will be swapped out for the next character in the player’s roster. By activating “Tapestry,” all characters within the player’s party are temporarily given the “Seize the Moment” buff. This buff coordinates with Tamoto, theGeo Constructdoll that is summoned with the activation of Chiori’s Elemental Skill.
With Charged, Plunging, and Normal Attacks from any character, Tamoto will execute an upward slash that does 100% of the damage usually dealt by Chiori’s Fluttering Hasode attack as AoE Geo Damage. Although “Seize the Moment” lasts for 8 seconds, Tamoto’s coordinated attack can only be activated twice during this time.

Tailor-made Passive: Tailoring
If players do not activate the “Tapestry” buff following the use of Fluttering Hasode, then the “Tailoring” buff will be activated instead. This simply infuses Chiori with Geo for 5 seconds, giving her Geo damage with every attack. To use “Tailoring,” players must not tap the Elemental Skill or use a Normal Attack for a few moments after attacking with Fluttering Hasode. Tamoto will still be summoned regardless of which buff is used.
Chiori’s Summon: Tamoto
The Elemental Skill Fluttering Hasode also summons Tamoto, a floating Geo Construct doll that will slash at enemies, dealing periodic Geo damage. The doll’s damage-dealing abilities are tied with Chiori’s ATK and DEF stats, so players should prioritize those when building their Chiori.
Furthermore, players should consider adding other Geo units to their party with Chiori. If there is another Geo Construct on the field (like Zhongli’s pillar orItto’s bull Ushi) then a second Tamoto with a different hairstyle will be summoned. There can only be two Tamoto at one time, but their time on the field is independently counted. They will also remain on the field even after Chiori is swapped out.

Elemental Burst: Hiyoku: Twin Blades
Hiyoku or “比翼” refers both to birds in flight and the practice of making a single garment look like two layers.
Chiori’s Elemental Burst is called “Hiyoku: Twin Blades,” obviously in reference to her use of two swords. The animation shows her cutting through beautiful brocade fabric that then swirls around in a golden storm. This attack deals AoE Geo damage based on Chiori’s ATK and DEF stats. The damage takes effect in a circle around Chiori, comparable toKazuha’s Elemental Burst, but with a quicker duration.

Chiori makes for a great off-field sub-DPS. Her abilities synergize well with other Geo units, or characters that have powerful plunging attacks, and the quick switch thanks to the “Tapestry” ability could make for some seriously devastating combos.
