As far as successful games of the last couple of generations go, they don’t get much bigger thanGrand Theft Auto 5. It may have been released nearly ten years ago at this point, but it’s still consideredone of the best video games of the last decade, and it’s not hard to see why. With a Metacritic score of 97 at the time of writing, it’s still, along withGTA Online, proving very lucrative for its developer. Not only is it big in terms of scope and map size, but it’s also a game that takes up a significant amount of storage on consoles, and the upcoming PS5 port seems to continue on that front.

According to a recent tweet from PlayStation Game Size, an account that, as the name suggests, tracks file sizes for upcoming PS games,Grand Theft Auto 5is likely to take up just over 86 GB. By no means is that the biggest file size around for a modern game, but even with the PS5’s available 667 GB on its in-built solid-state drive, that’s quite a significant amount of storage that the game will need. Not to mention that this may not include any future updates or patches, which could see that number leap up, as it did on the previous gen console versions of the game.

Thestorage requirements forGrand Theft Auto 5on previous consoles was around 57 GB, but this could fluctuate after updates and such, whereby the file size could be as much as 90 GB. For a game that came out in 2013, that is a lot of storage needed. Of course, it’s to be expected that the PS5 port of the game will take up more what with improved visuals, and it’s at least smaller than the likes ofGran Turismo 7, which requires just shy of 100 GB.

Withscreenshots fromGTA 5comparing current gen to PC, it does seem as though Rockstar has made a few tweaks here and there. According to the developer, there will be some graphical upgrades, which will include ray tracing. Players will also be able to transfer their data over from the PS4 version onto PS5. Currently, the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of the game are due out on March 15.

WithGrand Theft Auto 6hopefully getting a trailer this year, all eyes are on the studio, seeing what it will do next with the franchise. It’s been way overdue as far as fans are concerned, and while the current gen ports ofGTA 5will be welcome by many, most others are just holding out for the next installment.

Grand Theft Auto 5is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 15.
