While not much has been revealed about it,GTA 5’s Expanded and Enhancededition is still slated to release sometime in March. Fans are eager for any kind of evidence of the improvements and changes the upgrade might bring, and now a recent post by protagonist Franklin’s actor, Shawn Fonteno, has fans wondering if he’s seen the future.
Franklin recently made his return toGrand Theft Autoin the form ofThe Contract DLC forGTA Online. Set several years after the events ofGTA 5, The Contract shows how far Franklin has come since his early days, now running an agency to help solve the problems of the rich and famous.

Franklin, notably, has gotten a little bit older looking in theGTA OnlineDLC. That’s part of what has intrigued fans, as the new post by Franklin’s actor shows the opposite. On his Instagram account, actor Shawn Fonteno shared an image of what appears to be a new or upgraded model for Franklin. In the image, Franklin appears to be young, which has led some to believe that either more story DLC is on the way, perhaps revolving aroundFranklin and Lamar’s past, or that this is the model that will be utilized inGTA Expanded and Enhancededition. Unfortunately, all Fonteno has to say about it is ‘Almost finished,’ which is just increasing speculation and excitement among fans.
There’s also a slim possibility that this model may have something to do withGTA 6. That release is still somewhere on the horizon, though Rockstar Games hasn’t explicitly talked about it being in the works. It could be odd for Rockstar to break the ice by allowing set assets to be released in this manner, but it could also serve as viral marketing to help generate attention and excitement before an official announcement. However, unlessGTA 6is either directly connected toGTA 5’s story or is serving as some kind of prequel, this seems like the least likely possibility.
Unfortunately, fans haven’t gotten much else in the way of teases for theupgradedGTA 5next-gen version. Since the trailer initially premiered months ago, Rockstar Games has been very quiet about the title, leading some to worry that it will be delayed beyond its March release date, which was itself a delay. However, considering the recent stumble that was theGTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, many fans will likely be willing to wait in order forGTA 5to get the full coat of polish it deserves.
Grand Theft Auto 5is available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with next-gen versions in development.
