Not content to rest on its laurels,Guild Wars 2has already announced its next expansion.Janthir Wilds, releasing on August 20, takes players to the heart of the mysterious eponymous land, featuring two new maps: the pastoral Lowland Shore and the tempestuous Janthir Syntri. However, the most exciting features coming in the expansion are the two-handed spear – thefirst new weapon sinceGuild Wars 2’s release– and Homesteads, a housing system that ArenaNet claims will be the “most player-friendly” example in any MMO to date.

The Warclaw, the World vs. World-only giant cat mount, is also making the transition to PvE, featuring new options to traverse the world with its double-jump ability. Three more post-expansion updates are planned throughout the course of the rest of 2024 and into 2025, which will feature anewGuild Wars 2raid, a third map, a new PvP game mode, and collectible rewards, including a Legendary spear and refreshed rewards for the Wizard’s Vault.
For $25, fans can pre-purchaseGuild Wars 2: Janthir Wildsand obtain the Serpent’s Wrath weapon set, Whispering Serpent Pauldrons shoulder armor, the Homesteader character title, a shared inventory slot, and a level 80 character boost in addition to the game itself. The Deluxe Edition, available for $50, also includes the Wayfinder’s Versatile Table, a set of Eldritch Gathering Tools, an extra character slot, and an Identity Repair Kit. Lastly, the $75 Ultimate Edition includes 4,000Gems for use in theGuild Wars 2cash shopin everything the cheaper editions have.
