Heist Kitty: Cats Go a Strayis precisely what the cat food tin says: cats causing ‘cat-tastrophe’ and doing all kinds of zany things. InHeist Kitty, causing chaos is one aim of the game, as players step into the furry feet of a cat that joins either the Meowfia or the Purr-lice. However, there seem to be many unexpected twists, especially in how cats traverse the open-world multiplayer game in style.Heist Kitty’s cats can drive cars, launch out of cannons, and even surf through the air on a giant fish between purring, growling, and climbing the walls as any typical cat might.
Game Rant recently spoke with LetMeowt Games LLCdevelopers Carmen and Brian Rivers, as well as Excalibur Games producer Amber Silcock, aboutHeist Kitty’s typical and unusual cat traversal mechanics and the influence of games likeGTAin theopen-world multiplayer gamewith single-player capability. Silcock also revealed Kitty’s future plans following its upcoming launch, including plans forFast and Furious-style racetracks.

Heist Kitty’s Cat Abilities, Traversal Mechanics, And GTA Influences
The influence ofgames likeGTAis perhaps immediately apparent withHeist Kitty’s cats driving cars. Cats can hop onto parked cars and use them to cruise around the streets with other cats piling on top. Although he acknowledged the influence of games likeGTA, Brian also emphasized some crucial differences as a family-orientated company and how they wanted to make the game as “fun, humorous, and kid-friendly as possible, while still kind of sticking to the spirit of the heist concept.” One of the main differences Brian identified isHeist Kitty’s different types of traversal mechanics,
But not a lot ofGTAmissions have you jumping through cat cannons and landing on trampolines, swinging through the air, and riding platforms. There’s a bit more of a platformer experience there.

Although cats can things like drive, they also have typical and often humorous cat behaviors like turning on taps or knocking things over. Cats are still cats and do all the things that most cat lovers may enjoy, like purring. Carmen also identified cat emotes and the custom cat creator as something players may likely enjoy in thefamily-friendly co-op game. However, although it is possible to enjoy being a “good” cat inHeist Kitty, players might want to be a “bad” cat and cause chaos by driving cars.
Heist Kitty’s Plans For Fast And Furious-Style Racing Tracks
When asked aboutHeist Kitty’s future plans, Silcock revealed more about its post-launch milestones, including plans for new content like racetracks. As Silcock put it,
We do plan to add some more content. We’ve got some racetracks and stuff that we’re putting in. We’re also going to be taking some suggestions from our community as well.
Brian also talked Kitty’s planned racetracks, stating he is “looking forward to the racing theme,” how it is “veryFast and Furious-inspired,” and citing the name “Dom Tortie,” which sounds like a tortoiseshell-cat-meets-Dominic-Toretto. Although no further specifics were revealed about what this racetrack content might include, anopen-world racing gamesystem sounds like a strong and hilarious fit for the existing open-world cat simulator game, particularly with its strong focus on family with the Meowfia cat faction.
It will also be interesting to see what cars and driving skills cats have.GTAfans eagerly awaitingGTA 6and fans of theFast and Furiousmovie franchisemay want to check outHeist Kittywhen it launches June 14 for open-world heist-style gaming with a twist, particularly with racetracks on the horizon.
