Amidst the controversy ofThe Last of Us 2, one fan who genuinely enjoyed the game took time to poke fun at it through a uniquely animated Youtube video. Many players' complaints have been focused on the game’s story rather than its' gameplay, so this short clip is enjoyable for allLast of Usfans, no matter how they feel about the game. His death leads Ellie on an uncharacteristic journey of revenge, due tothe many ways that Joel and Ellie’s relationship has evolvedover the years. The animated video simplifies the inspiration of Ellie’s journey, the interactions between various characters, and their seemingly out-of-the-blue reactions to small revelations.

Naughty Dog’s latest installment to theLast of Usfranchise was the best selling game during June2020, but fans are still fairly divided over the progression of the game’s story. The title’s progression is a little abrupt or random at times, though as players continue through the game, things start to make sense. But because these small, random inspirations are what fans are upset about, Youtube creator Circletoons decides to emphasize these in his video.
Despite the fans' rampant dislike overthe ending toLast of Us 2, the game’s director has revealed that the game could have had a much darker ending. As shown in Circletoon’s video, Ellie is intent on settling things with Abby in a fair fight, despite the fact that she could have left her to die at the hands of the Rattlers.
Neil Druckmann’s unique story is full ofhidden, in-game plot details, meant to extend the plot and further build the world. Although the game may have an untraditionally consequential and unique story, it may have a happier ending, despite the somber undertones presented in-game.
In the last few scenes of the game, when Ellie arrives back at the farmhouse that she had shared with Dina and JJ,one fan notices a small detailwhich implies that Dina and Ellie are living happily in Jackson, but intent on leaving any sort of ‘revenge business’ behind them, in the past where it belongs. No matter how players may feel about the game as a whole, Circletoon’s short video captures the game’s overall concept. Even though Ellie may seem a little off inThe Last of Us 2, players can appreciate her epiphany at the end of the video: “Killing people is wrong!”
