Honkai: Star Railmay have revealed the appearances of Sam and Elio for the first time. The two characters have been mentioned by Kafka, Blade, and Silver Wolf a number of times, butHonkai: Star Railplayershave yet to see them in the game.
InHonkai: Star Rail’s Data Bank, it was noted that there were four Stellaron Hunters that were working under their leader Elio, who was described as “a maniac who claims he can see destiny.” Sam, on the other hand, seemed to be a mysterious figure who didn’t interact with their colleagues much. So far, both characters are still considered NPCs, butSam was already leaked as a rumored playableHonkai: Star Railcharacter.

With many players wondering what Sam and Elio might look like, the latestHonkai: Star Railcinematic seemed to reveal their identities. Titled “Myriad Celestia Trailer: The Jepella Rebellion - Scene 47,” the three-minute video showedKafkaon trial for stealing Stellarons, aka the “Cancer of All Worlds,” in multiple planets. After confessing to all her crimes and pleading guilty, she seemed to manipulate the judges to lead the Jepella Rebellion. Kafka would later reunite with her colleagues, including a tall, armored man believed to be Sam, who tells her to “stop playing with your food.” The video also showed a black cat, which many people believed was Elio.
Amid comments praising the quality of theHonkai: Star Railcinematic and Kafka’s voice acting, many fans expressed their excitement that they finally saw what Sam and Elio possibly looked like. Although HoYoverse didn’t officially confirm the identities of these characters, players seemed convinced that the armored man was indeed Sam because of in-game text stating that Kafka was once with “a person wearing colossal armor.” As for Elio, there didn’t seem to be indications that he was a cat, but the animal was also in Kafka’s splash art.
The only potential mystery now would be what Sam actually looked like if he removed his armor. There had beentheories that Sampo was secretly the Stellaron Hunterbecause he and Sam had similar names. But if Sam didn’t remove his armor, he could simply be a humanoid mech like Screwllum and Svarog, or a unique-looking Antimatter Legion. For now,Honkai: Star Railplayers will have to wait and see how the game formally introduces the fourth Stellaron Hunter and Elio in the game.
