Jake Johnson, one of the stars ofMinx,has released a statement about the show’s recent cancellation. In the statement, the actor says he hopes the show will find a new home to continue telling its story.
Minxis just the latest in a series of cancellations conducted by Warner Bros. Discovery. Unlike most of these shows, it was announced thatMinxwould be cancelledafter it had already secured a renewal. The show, about a woman trying to run an erotic magazine for women in the ’70s, was also removed fromHBO Max. This was reportedly done so that Lionsgate Television, which produces the show, could find another streaming service willing to host it.

Johnson posted a message toMinxfans on his Instagram. “We’ve been removed from HBOMax but we’re still finishing the season. So thankfully they didn’t halt production. We’re about a week away from being finished shooting,” his statement reads. “From what I am hearing S1 & S2 (and hopefully S3) will find a new home, the question is where.” Johnson thanked fans for supporting the show and said the crew had done amazing work on the second season.

It’s not only smaller shows likeMinxthat have been removed from HBO Max.Westworldwas cancelled after 4 seasonsdespite once being considered one of HBO’s flagship series, and it had only one season to go before the series was completed. The series is now being removed from HBO Max’s library entirely.
Even the DCEU seems to be undergoing some major changes.Wonder Woman 3is not moving forward, despite the project being considered one of the safer releases on DC’s release slate. Rumors have swirled about creatives being unhappy with the direction of HBO and HBO Max. This could present an issue with the network moving forward because if creatives become too weary of working with the network that cancels shows likeMinxwhile they’re in production, its status as the home of prestige television could be in danger.
