The Lore of theLeague of Legendsfranchise is all centered in the world of Runeterra, and this Lore encompasses all their games, from the original MOBA to Wilf Rift and even the card gameLegends of Runeterra.

But,because new character reworks, games and concepts areconstantly being added, there are a lot of Lore inconsistencies that still need to be fixed or have gone unnoticed by Riot Games over the years. So, let’s talk about some ofLeague of Legends’most obvious story inconsistencies.

5What Is The Void Really?

With the introduction of Bel’Vethand its whole “submerged city” area that Kai’Sa explores in Bel’Veth’s Champion Trailer, the Void has become an even more confusing concept. According to Lore, the Void is the “shadow” and the Universe (AKA Runeterra) is what’s casting the shadow (think of light and dark).

They’re two sides of the same coin, but complete opposites conceptually, with Watchers creating Voidlings that hunger for everything the Void doesn’t have. And, the Void itself is just meant to be an endless expanse of nothingness, yet Bel’Veth seems to have created a whole Void-like ecosystem, and Kai’Sa has explored Void areas on more than one occasion. With how much fans want to see more of the horror-esque side of the Void, it’s interesting that the actual “realm” itself has never been shown.

4The Inner Workings Of Targon Prime & The Constellations

Next up is Targon, one of the more fleshed out and incredibly interesting regions of Runeterra that is centered around a magical mountain that people climb to attempt to become “Aspects.” An Aspect is when a mortal is chosen to be a host for a powerful Constellation of Targon Prime (also called an Aspect). Usually, this Aspect Ascension only happens about once a century, but there are quite a lot of Aspects in the current world of Runeterra, such as:

But where the confusion comes in is with the classifications. So Aspects are the rulers of Targon Prime, a divine realm made up of those who originally gave Aurelion Sol the cursed crown, and their human hosts are also called Aspects? Were the Aspect Constellations originally human? Did they force Aurelion Sol to turn them into Constellations?

How come some Constellations, like Soraka and Bard can just come to Runeterra and fashion their own bodies, yet the Aspects need human hosts? Why do some Aspects seem to “inhabit” their host while others simply grant them a portion of their power? It’s all just a bit confusing and needs more classifications and explanations, but the actual building blocks of Targon and Targon Prime are so incredibly interesting and would be one of the fan-favorite regionsif the MMORPG ever comes out.

3Death, Rebirth, & The Undead

The concept of Death inLeague of Legendsis only becoming more confusing and less impactful over time. In most stories that involve death, it’s either left unclear, or they give a concrete answer as to whether there’s one afterlife, a number of afterlives, and so on. But, inLeague of Legends, there are a number of different characters who have come back from death and seen different things, and there’s even one character (Mordekaiser) whose story partially takes place in the afterlife.

So what’s the answer? If Mordekaiser comes from the land of the dead, is that the only afterlife? Is it impossibly difficult to come back after dying? If so, how are there so many Champions that have pulled it off? Just to name a few there’s:

This is all to say that Death exists in many forms in Runeterra, and so does Un-Death or Rebirth, yet the explanations and connections between them are shaky at best. Though, to be fair, leaving it so open-ended is great for a create-a-characterin an MMORPG setting.

2Those Magical Little Poros

Poros, by design, are made to be a sort of anomaly in the Runeterra universe. These creatures are almost entirely defenseless, yet are never killed and barely ever even get hurt. Previously, fans just assumed they weren’t “canon” creatures and only existed as cute little additions to the Howling Abyss ARAM map inLoL.

But, after Poro cards started releasing inLORalongside new Champions, they have been confirmed to be canon. To briefly go over all the mind-blowing information about Poros shown in these cards:

Poros literally defy all common sense, and their very existence is an inconsistency. But, fans are fine with it for the same reason everyone else in Runeterra is, they’re just too cute to even worry about.

1Yordles & Glamour

Last up, let’s talk about another race of seemingly magical creatures like the Poros, the Yordles. Yordles are quite literally beings made up of pure magic that call the Bandle City home. They’ve been seen all throughout Runeterra’s history and are currently living in many different regions. They don’t seem to follow any standardized physiology, as Fizz looks nothing like any other Yordle, while Heimerdinger and Ziggs look relatively similar. But, here’s where the inconsistencies come in:
