ThoughPokemonhas received the bulk of attention from Nintendo fans lately due to its25th anniversary and costly McDonald’s promotion,Legend of Zeldafan projects are still aplenty. This fan project by Redditor “CallmeKunamatata” is unofficially one of the weirdest.

The Legend of Zeldaseries has been embraced with renewed vigor sinceBreath of the Wildproved itself to be a hit with both old and new fans alike. The hype up to the eventual release ofBreath of the Wild 2has resulted in 2 other games so far,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and the HD re-release ofSkyward Sword. Games in theZeldaseries are typically set in the fictional region of “Hyrule” and feature an important mythological artifact called a “Triforce.” The Triforce is made up of three triangles, each representing one of the series’ Goddesses and Her main attribute. The Triforce is featured in Hyrule’s “Royal Crest,” sitting atop a simplistic depiction of a guardian bird. The prominence and recognizability of the Royal Crest have made it a key symbol of the franchise.

A creative Redditor with some string, nails, and possibly a little too much time on their hands, has created a representation of the Royal Crest symbol out of string. The twine creation took approximately 6 hours to make and over 100 nails. The piece was made using a template and while it may seem rare, the proper term for works like this one is string art. String art is centred around the use of multiple geometric lines at varying angles, which, under the right circumstances look like a curve.

Amazing fan projects are common for the widely lovedLegend of Zeldafranchise. In 2016 there was a stunning fan-madeZeldafilm trailer in the style of Studio Ghibli, and just recently a fan completedBreath of the Wildusing only his feet. Many are clamoring for somethingZelda-relatedto do as they wait forBreath of the Wild 2to finally get some coverage.

MostZeldafans are sending kudos to CallmeKunamatata for their awesome string art creation. Whether someone loves it or hates it, it is easy to see the level of patience that went into the piece. Especially when the string used reportedly broke several times.

Still, some fans may not be interested in the art piece. At this stage, theZeldafandom is justcounting the days tillBreath of the Wild 2.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HDwill be available on the 16th of July 2021 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
