LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagais proving to be one of 2022’s most popular games so far in the days following its release. Almost immediately, the game topped Steam’s player numbers, breaking previous records of concurrent players in both theStar WarsandLEGOgame categories. Combining all nine mainStar Warsmovies in one game,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagahas attracted all kinds of fans, bringing the nostalgia of the formerLEGOgames back for many players.
To a lot of fans,Star Warssimply wouldn’t be the same without its overarching villain, Emperor Palpatine, who acts as the central antagonist for eachStar Warstrilogy. It was no surprise then that Palpatine appears in the story ofLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaas both a villain and as a playable character. Though, Palpatine is not always the scarred old emperor that fans see in the original trilogy, and the character begins his time in theStar Warsmovies as Chancellor.

It is in this role as Chancellor that Palpatine must hide his true identity as a Sith Lord. This has led to a funnyEaster egg inLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which shows what happens when Palpatine gets a little too comfortable while the player is AFK. Shown in a clip, Palpatine is happily standing with his hands behind his back, before a lightsaber slips out of his robes. The Chancellor then quickly looks around to see if anyone noticed before kicking the weapon back into safety.
The animation shows off a perfect mix ofStar Warslore tied in with typicalLEGOhumor. It is a small nod to the fact that Chancellor Palpatine was keeping his identity hidden for so long, but could have been discovered as a Sith Lord at even the slightest mistake. While a few fans didn’t like the story of the prequel movies, many thought thatPalpatine’s ultimate strategy playing out through the earlyStar Warsstorieswas a highlight, as it has led to many memes, theory videos, and more created by theStar Warsfandom.
As Chancellor Palpatine is one of hundreds of playable characters inLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it is possible for fans to miss out on this small Easter egg. There are plenty of other cool details and character interactions in the game for players to explore as well, such as a conversation between a young Anakin and Darth Vader. The characters are missing one thing inLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, however, and that’s customization, somethingfans have sorely missed in the latestLEGO Star Warstitle.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagais out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
