YouTube channel TeaserPlay has created yet another Unreal Engine 5 concept video, with this one all aboutMax Payne 2.Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Paynewas originally released in 2003 with Remedy Entertainment serving as the developer and Rockstar Games publishing the title. Like its predecessor,Max Payne 2enjoyed a mostly positive critical reception at the time of its release, and so it’s not surprising that many fans want to see the game get a new lease on life on modern consoles.
Max Paynefans are in luck in that regard. The first twoMax Paynegames are getting remakes from Remedy and Rockstar, with plans to release them together on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It’s unclear exactly how far theseMax Payneremakes will go, but it has been confirmed that the game will be built using Remedy’s Northlight engine, which was used to makeControland is being utilized for thehighly-anticipatedAlan Wake 2as well.

While fans wait for more official information on theMax Payneremakes, they can check out TeaserPlay’s concept video forMax Payne 2, though keep in mind that it was made using Unreal Engine 5 and not the Northlight Engine. The video showsprotagonist Max Paynewalking through dark city streets and shooting enemies, though it doesn’t showcase the franchise’s famous bullet time effects, unfortunately.
Those feeling nostalgic forMax Payneshould note that it’s technically possible to play the games on modern platforms. Besides playing the PC versions, all three games in theMax Paynetrilogy are readily available to play on Xbox. The original Xbox versions ofMax PayneandMax Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payneare all there, as is the Rockstar Games-developedMax Payne 3, thanks to theXbox backward compatibility program.
Watching TeaserPlay’s concept video and replaying the original games can help tide fans over while they wait for more concrete information on theMax Payneremakes. Remedy is developing a number of games right now, though, so it’s unclear exactly when theMax Payneremakeswill see the light of day, but hopefully fans get to see the games in action sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, fans of Remedy Entertainment’s work have a lot to look forward to in the years ahead. Besides theMax Payneremakes, Remedy is also working on aControlsequel,Alan Wake 2, and two games that are presumably new IP but haven’t been revealed yet.
