SomeMinecraftplayers are reporting that a bug is preventing them from loading the game.Minecraftperiodically releases snapshots, which consist of previews of the content that will be available in updates. The updates, in turn, officially bring several exciting features to the game. This time around, however, some players are having trouble checking out the new content added by Mojang.

Players are eagerly awaiting the release ofMinecraft’s big update 1.20, which will add several new features to the game. Officially called Trails & Tales, the update features armor trimming and a new biome, promising new adventures forMinecraftplayers. Before that, however, Mojang releasedMinecraftupdate 1.9.4 with changes to potions, horse breeding, accessibility improvements, and more. But as is common with the release of an update, new bugs and glitches can appear.

Last monthMinecraft1.20 snapshot had a bugthat did not allow players to use a feature related to the new biome. Some users are reporting that after update 1.9.7 the game loading freezes at 66%. Most players say that the problem is happening on Switch, although a post on the officialMinecraftsubreddit says the bug happened on the PS4 version of the game. Some users have also confirmed having the same problem on Mojang’s official Issue Tracker, a website where players can reportMinecraftbugs.

Mojang has yet to comment on the “66% bug,” or report whether a fix is on the way. Meanwhile, players are trying alternative solutions to get around the problem. One of the Issue Tracker users said they found that the problem only affectsMinecraftplayers with a linked Nintendo account. One Reddit user offered a trick that consists in putting the Switch in airplane mode and startingMinecraft, closing the game, turning off airplane mode, and then opening the game again. Fortunately, the bug was discovered before theanticipatedMinecraftupdate 1.20is released for all players, which will allow Mojang to investigate the issue and offer a fix for all affected players.

Bugs can cause some pretty stressful situations. Although players are having difficulty accessing the game, the reports do not talk about the loss of save files, which is a positive sign for players worried about potentially losing their progress in the game. AffectedMinecraftplayers should continue reporting the issue through the appropriate channels.

Minecraftis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and legacy platforms.
